Water problems

This hotel is well decorated and our room was quite spacious. However we were above the bar and a noisy party kept us awake until midnight on the first night, and was drowned out by our TV on the second. There was a note in the room saying a boiler was out of action, this resulted in there being only lukewarm water and heating during our stay. The TV was faulty on the first night but replaced. The breakfast portions were meagre with one piece of each item and a poor selection of fruit. When I asked for a reduction for the lack of hot water, this was met with a cool reception but £10.00 per night conceded.

We stayed at The Lawns for two nights in September as part of our honeymoon. I can't praise it highly enough. Sue, the owner was very attentive and everyone made us feel at home. The rooms were tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and serviced daily and the bed was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was really excellent and good value. It's worth a trip to The Lawns for the food alone, have the belly pork if it's still available it's stupendous! Holt itself is a lovely little town and conveniently located for the North Norfolk coast. It has some charming shops and excellent local produce. We'll definitely be going back.

Great food and a wonderful bar. If we had our way we would move in here as we had the best nights sleep ever. We loved the food and thanks to Elaine and Sue for their recommendations and looking after us so well. If you can't get to stay here then just go and eat or chill out in the bar.
You'll feel better for the whole experience.

Nearly went to overpriced Blakeney as Holt isn't the obvious choice as your base for a North Norfolk break because it isn't on the sea. But it is ideal - much more interesting than being stuck in one of the coastal towns - you can explore this pretty market-town and then drive around the coast - only a few miles away.

The Lawns very cosy, clean and bright. It has great food - skilfully prepared by a chef who isn't trying to show off yet glories in having fantastic local ingredients to cook. And they are fabulous! Seafood, salt-marsh grazed lamb, properly looked-after matured beef, etc.

There's proper East Anglian beers and a good wine list.

I've been to North Norfolk before and found some parts too pleased with their trendy image to look after their guests properly. Here, the staff understand that each guest is an individual and fall over themselves to facilitate you having the best possible time on your terms - not theirs. This place is a brilliant find!

If you don't stay - eat there. You'll be glad that you did.
