Fantastic weekend - yet again

My partner and I have stayed at the An Mordros hotel four times now, at different times of year, and wouldn't dream of booking anywhere else. The owners, Sandy and Russell, are welcoming without being intrusive, and have a fabulous knowledge of Porthleven and Cornwall, and have guided us to many places which we would otherwise never have discovered; the breakfasts are second to none (in fact, they're so good that, last time we were there, two local people had booked themselves in for a treat!); and the rooms are warm and comfortable, with breathtaking views over the harbour and out to sea. On our most recent visit last year, we were delighted to find a wonderful new bar in which to enjoy a glass of wine or two before and after dinner. Couldn't recommend the An Mordros highly enough, and we're not surprised that the other reviewer on this page missed out on his room by giving the wrong booking details - the hotel is very popular, especially at peak times of year - but we'd rather change our dates than go somewhere else.

Booked to stay here by telephone for one night in April 2006.booked on a wed. Had to leave a deposit on my credit card. No problem. On Thur received a call asking for my credit card details as transaction was not taken. Requested a letter to confirm identity of the caller as concerned re fraud. By sat letter still not arrived phoned hotel to confirm card no. Was advised a letter was in the post stating the room had been re let!!!.

Kota Restaurant Specials The Kota Restaurant serves delightful food - their seafood chowder was the best I've EVER tasted. Try the 2 course special for £14 between 6pm and 7pm - definitely well worth it!

Parking & Luggage Park alongside the road railing right in front of the property if you can. Prevents having to pay extra for parking further down the road. Also, the stairs to the rooms are very steep - take the minimum luggage needed!
