We chose this hotel because it was reasonable in price and near the airport, and found it to be clean and comfortable. Just what we needed at the end of our 3-week stay in Great Britain. We appreciated the shuttle to the airport which was provided by the hotel.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Ibis London Heathrow Airport Hotel

Spend the money for another place!

from sandye88
Thank goodness the sheets were clean and the reservation clerks were kind! BUT the sink was not very clean. The tea pot is the room had moldy water in it and did not work. The food in the restaurant is terrible so if you crave good ol' fish n' chips try elsewhere. Yes, London IS over-priced but one thing we learned is that a decent room is worth the extra money.

Typical Airport Hotel

from markjtnet
I was in the area for business so my company set me up for one night at the Ibis. Upon arriving I was impressed with the lobby area as it was very modern and the staffs were very helpful.

Not sure how it happened but when I stepped out of the lift I had somehow ended up in the 70's. The hallways weren't too clean and finding my room reminded me of the channel 4 program The Crystal Maze. The room itself was fine for me for a one night stay but I wouldn't want to stay any longer or with a young family.

The room was very basic; Bed, bench seat, open wardrobe and TV. I should mention that the TV only had the basic five channels which I find amazing considering Freeview! The bathroom was fine but the tub was small and the shower pipe was damaged. The room itself was clean but had a strange odour which was either cheap air freshener or dead pigeon.

My only grumble with the room was the temperature. I'm fussy and I like to be cool when I sleep but the room was quiet hot, even for frosty March. Opening the window didn't really help and isn't advisable considering the constant noise from the airport.

I followed the other reviewer's advice and nipped down to the Holiday Inn for dinner. I had Stuffed Mediterranean Chicken when translates to 'stick a slice of pepper in a drumstick, add some fancy carrots and charge £14.' On walking back I noticed the MickyD's and wished I’d eaten there instead of trying to clock up a massive bill on the company card.

The buffet breakfast was probably the worst I have ever eaten. It seemed like the staffs were just throwing more and more cooked food into the trays but there was no one in the restaurant. I would imagine the food I picked up had been there since they opened. The OJ was a strange green colour from one machine and I couldn't find any milk for my tea anywhere.

To be fair, like the other reviewer said, I have paid silly money for airport hotels and have stayed in far worse. The shame is that with very little effort it could be a really good hotel.

Over Priced And Extremely Compact!

I paid £69 for a single room for one night (not including breakfast) at this hotel on a stop over in London on my way to New York. Little did I know I could get a double room for £49 at the Holiday Inn next door! The reception area was very nice and the hotel staff were pleasant and helpful but I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

As I'm travelling for a number of months I had a fair amount of luggage and there was no where to put it in the room! The single bed was squashed up against the wall and then I had about 40cm/1ft on the other side and in front of the bed. I had to put my suitcases outside the bathroom door and had to climb over them to get to the bathroom. However I did find this all highly amusing. I actually did laugh when I saw the room for the first time. Definately the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in! It was smaller than any cabin I've had on a cruise ship as well, so that says it all!

The next morning in the (slow) elevator I was talking to a British Airways pilot who's main issue was the fact that you couldn't turn the heat down in your room and there were no extra pillows.

Breakfast was okay but you had to pay extra for it. The buffet was standard fare though, nothing to write home about. Overall I would go for another hotel next time as the hotel rooms are extremely small and very basic.

Reasonably good

from JWN1942
After reading reports on this site I was extremely nervous about staying at the hotel. I found the bedroom though small perfectly adequate for a one night stopover. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean, tea and coffee were provided and the lack of toiletries did not bother me as I had my own(liquid soap was provided). The hallways were somewhat shabby and needed vacuming. The reception staff were pleasant and helpfull. I did not eat at the hotel but chose to eat at the Holiday Inn situated about 50yards away. After staying at numerous other Heathrow hotels in the past ranging from the 5*luxury to the 2*basic I wouldn´t hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Basic, but clean

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here for a very short night! We arrived at the hotel at 10pm had to leave the hotel at 4.30am the following morning. We chose the hotel because it was the cheapest Heathrow hotel and was reasonably close to the airport. I think we paid around £67 for a twin room (no breakfast). Our room was adequate and clean, but very small. The bathroom, I was pleasantly surprised with - clean and modern and everything worked well.

Service on Reception was very slow and the staffs' English was very basic , which was rather frustrating as they didn't understand me when I asked which 'phone should I use to book a taxi and where were the lifts ... Staff in the bar didn't speak very good English either (didn't understand lager shandy!) and got my order wrong for a panini; I ended up with ham and brie rather than mozarella and tomato (I have severe doubts that the cheese was mozarella, but couldn't be bothered to send it send back a second time, the waiter was convinced it was mozarella ...)

We took the attitude that it was fine for the duration but wouldn't have wanted to be there any longer - ie for a nice leisurely evening and breakfast. We would have tripped over something or each other quite quickly.

The Hoppa service hadn't started for the day when we needed to leave, so used a cab (having booked the previous night and was quoted £8), the taxi was over 10 minutes late. A mini bus turned up and just called out taxi for Terminal 1, picked us up and another couple and charged £8 per couple, which I thought was a bit naughty. I was too tired and anxious about the time to complain.

Mean Mean Ibis

Only stay here if you have to. Rooms usual Ibis sized rabbit hutches.

Perfectly OK for putting your head down but don't bother having dinner.

The menu is limited and there seems to be a staffing problem. Cold soup followed by a buffet. Now why do they have such SMALL plates for the main course and yet charge £11.50 for soup followed by a buffet selection.
Big money but small plates.

Fine for a quick stay without dinner.

Worse Than Expected

from NETTSTER
I stayed at the Ibis Heathrow for only one night on July 17 en route from Athens to the U.S. in order to catch a flight from Heathrow in the morning. I expected this hotel to be a step above a Motel 6 and perhaps equivalent to a Days Inn. It was worse -- the door knob to the bathroom did not work in our first room. Fortunately, I was traveling with a friend and she let me out. Had I been traveling solo, no doubt I would have stayed the entire night in the bathroom, having to wait for housekeeping and missed my flight! They sent someone up to fix it (at midnight) and he couldn't repair it, so we were transferred across the hall. The air conditioning did not work in the second room and surprisingly it was a hot night and was needed. We just stayed there as we had an early flight and just needed to sleep. Also, we arrived around 11 pm very hungry and were told the coffee shop was open 24 hours. This was not true and there was no place in the vicinity that served food, so if you arrive late in the evening having not had a meal in awhile, I suggest you eat something at the airport or elsewhere before you board the bus (6 pounds rountrip) for the hotel. The rooms were small, with two single beds smashed together, and we were constantly tripping over our luggage as there was no place to put it. The hotel was inexpensive by London standards ($124 USD), but for that price you'd definitely get a better place in the US. The only positive is that it is the cheapest hotel near Heathrow.

Avoid!

from ronne
Do not stay at this hotel if you can help it! The reception has been refurbished and looks quite attractive but the rooms are horrible. Mine was so poky (and I've stayed in a fair few hotels round London). The carpet was worn thin, the sink in the bathroom didn't drain properly and the shower was lukewarm.

There was a huge queue at breakfast time and they were not equipped to deal with the large party of tourists staying there (I did feel very sorry for them!). I just had time to throw something down before hitting the road.

There are a lot of other hotels around here so I would suggest trying another one if you need to stay near the airport.

Poor Try Another

from A TripAdvisor Member
Very poor service. Staff were very rude after they made a mistake in giving me and my wife a single room.

We knew the rooms were basic, but no also dirty!!

In general the hotel is not very clean.

With the emergence of so many new hotels nearby, recommend you choose another!

Horror

from SeasonedTraveler8
Horror of Horrors! Soap given was the size of half a calling card. Room is so small, a second person getting up on right side of bad would have to bump into the wall. Only one towel hung in the bathroom, a second one is found with the second pillow on shelf. Ladies, no facial tissue. Receptionis suggests using toilet paper.

A/C clicks out soft air. windows cnnot be opened.

No rubber mat in tub. Sign said can request from receptionist. but when called, was told too busy to deliver to room . One must go to desk.

Coffee is dispensed from a machine.probably from powder Coffee after meal time is from Bar. From same type machine, but cost 1.60 Pounds.

Check out time is 12 Noon. Got call from manager at 12:15 to ask if extra night needed. Told "permission" from manager should have been requested. Permission? Perhaps arrangements?

Good point, two ironing boards available on 2nd flloor. This is a no-frill hotel strictly enforced.

Top Local Tips for Hayes

Transport Don't stay here if most of your events are in central London. It takes way over an hour and a bus connection each end. If coming from Heathrow get a bus (free) from T2 central bus station. Buses 111, 105, 140, 555 go to Harlington Corner free whereas the Hoppa Bus H6 costs GBP6

Free local bus to Heathrow, Free New Year's Eve transportation in London We bought 3-day travelcards for London, thinking that would be the way to go. Because the local transportation in the Heathrow area was free and because all London transport was free on New Year's Eve, we really didn't use the card to its maximum value. It was useful for the buses in Central London, but we would have saved money with just the one-day cards. We never used the cards on the third day.

Getting around Get into buses leave from airport as they are free both ways. But the Hotel Hoppa buses are charged at 3 pounds.
