t be desperate!

from big_punter
The rooms were all clean and well presented and all the rest of it (You'd expect it from Holiday Inn I guess), the only complaint I had was the cost. I had travelled back from France without a booking, and fell on their doorstep needing a room and was charged £290 for one night's accommodation!!! Unbelievable... there's probably a lesson in there somewhere! If you can find this room for less than £80-90 I think it'd be worth it, but don't get desperate!!!

A Real Gem

from Kidder44
We stayed here for one night, before our trip to New York. The Hotel was clean and tidy, and the room was spacious. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

I didn't realise we had a room facing the main road, and runway, until i looked out of the window. The sound proofing really was excellent.

We booked a one night stay with 8 days parking, and from dropping off the car to picking it up again on our return went really smoothly.

We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent, and reasonably priced.

To sum up, it's just a few mins from Heathrow Airport, and has an up market feel about it. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Adequate airport hotel

from Brown-2004
Stayed one night. After having stayed at the Sheraton Skyline we thought the Holiday Inn was disappointing . Room was small but clean and reasonably well furnished. The alarm is built into the TV which took us a while to catch on and then we kept waking up all night wondering if the thing would work! It did! at 5 AM as we had an early flight. Staff was pleasant and the food in the dining room was quite good and not too expensive for an airport hotel .Considering that we only paid $33 on Priceline we were more than satisfied but would probabily try for a 4* next time.

Comfortable Airport Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
My Partner & I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in September 05 before flying out of Heathrow the next day. (We had previously stayed at this hotel in November 2004 for one night).

Having read a very helpful tripadvisor review this time instead of taking the hoppa bus at £3 each single to the hotel from the airport (we had arrived in Heathrow from Paddington via Heathrow Express) like we did in
November 04 when there was 4 of us travelling (£12 one way!) we got on one of the normal service buses.
At Central Bus Station at Heathrow jump on No 105,140,111,285 etc
We checked with the drive that he would be passing this hotel and he replied yes and there is no fee and on approaching the hotel he gave us the nod to get ready to get off. The bus stop is dead outside the hotel and on the day in question the hoppa bus was stopping at the same bus stop and not entering the hotel's car park.

The hotel is an average airport hotel with people coming and going at all hours so there was some noise, but just the same as other airport hotels. Our room faced the main road and one of the runways but no noise from either of these could be heard. The room was a reasonable size and clean. We had booked direct on the Holiday Inn website and had a rate of £60 B&B for the both of us. Staff were helpful.

We eat in the hotels restaurant that evening and had a lovely meal with reasonable prices for the food & drink. Breakfast was fine and included in our price was continental & full english.

On day of departure we caught a normal service bus (states on the front Central Station) back to the airport free of charge. As you cross the road from the hotel the bus stop is on your right. If it is raining this could be more of a problem than getting the hoppa bus as this goes from the hotel's entrance.

handy, comfortable hotel

from fille
I stayed here for 'day use' when I flew in early from Australia as I wasn't flying out until later that night. I also stayed overnight at the end of my holiday before flying home. The 'day use' was a geat idea, you get the room from 10am-6pm and it was 49.50 pounds. You couldn't book this over the net and I had to ring the reservation number in Australia. From the airport take the Hoppa bus no 6 for 3 pounds. The rooms on both occasions were clean, comfy, and nicely decorated. Breakfast was good (but the service guy was rather annoying.) Overall, a pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

Typical airport hotel, but good service

from tsaunders
We stayed at the hotel because it was only 5 mins by bus from Heathrow airport. By the way, the hotel hoppa buses are quite expensive, whereas the normal london buses (105, 140, 111, 285, etc) stop right outside and are free!
The evening meals in the restaurant were good and the service was friendly and efficient. We did not have breakfast (£14.95 is way too much), so cannot comment on that.
The only bad point about the hotel was that the soundproofing wasn't very good in the rooms and I was woken up several times by noises outside the building and in the corridors.
The rooms were clean, well maintained and had all the usual facilities for this level of hotel. We would be happy to stay there again.

Very pleased!

The Ariel was convenient, clean, comfortable and accommodating. Am glad we prebooked as rates would have been a lot more if we had just walked in. Rooms were large and had all amenities that we required. Although windows wouldn't open (sound protection) they provided a fan which we used as the room got quite warm. Lobby was fairly busy, noisy and smoky as there was bar service (very typical everywhere) but dining room was very relaxing and food was well prepared. The red buses that pick up and drop off across the street are free to the airport. Bowling alley with a McDonald's next door to hotel was handy for a quick bite. The hotel was also convenient for us to pick up and drop off our Avis car rental - it was across the street, about a two minute walk. Yes we would stay there again.

Noisy and Needs Updating

from RPGinDC
The hotel is conveniently located near Heathrow - but so are many hotels. This one needs some updating. The rooms are tired and very noisy. One expects noise near the airport, so that is normal, but the noise from fellow guests is not. We had no working air or fan in our room and it was too late to call for service and we had an early flight. On the plus side, the room was relatively clean. But, we would not stay here again if we need a hotel near Heathrow. The room needed updating and could use new pillows and bedding. The service was adequate but the food in the hotel was horrible. Given that there are many hotels in the area, I'd stay elsewhere next time.

Nice for an airport hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Holiday Inn Ariel was a decent airport hotel. The rooms were comfortable, clean and a good size. Our reservation was accurate. The lobby and restaurant, however, were pretty smoky. The food was decent for an airport hotel but was very expensive. The Hotel Hoppa is rediculously overpriced at 3GBP per person. All in all we had a nice, comfortable stay at the Ariel.

Excellent value for money!

from midge2475
My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for one night between Christmas and New Years Eve 2004. We paid £47.00 for a double room (without breakfast) and was expecting an average hotel for the price. However, the hotel surpassed all expectations. The decor throughout was very modern. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean and although we had an outside room we did not hear any aircraft noise. The restaurant was very good, the menu choice was limited because of the time of year but what we had was excellent and it was reasonably priced for an airport hotel.
We would defintely stay at this hotel again, in fact, I wouldn't even bother to look into anywhere else!

Top Local Tips for Hayes

Free City Bus There are 3 city bus lines that offer free transportation from the Heathrow airport to the hotels on Bath road. The Hotel Hoppa bus will charge 4pounds for the same basic ride.

Free bus from hotel to Heathrow Use the HotelHopper bus (4 pounds) to get to the hotel but once there ask the staff where the bus stop for the local free bus is - this bus not only is free but also runs around every 10 minutes and is only a 5 minute drive to Heathrow rather than stopping at other hotels, as the HotelHopper does.

getting to Heathrow call for a cab if you are in a hurry; shuttle can take time.
