What a joy!! Once again North Yorkshire will be on the map for a fabulous dining experience.Having had some wonderful dinners at The Star, the owners have taken over The Pheasant. Expect a different dining experience, sumptuous surroundings, stylish decor, friendly, professional service. Now the FOOD!! seasonal, fresh, imagenative dishes. Combinations of Duck breast with a soft goats cheese and raspberries .Veal sweetbreads, capers and oranges.Desserts that were bursting with flavours of spring. Just wonderfull

We spent a wonderful two nights at this lovely hotel. Under new management and recently refurbished this hotel offered comfort with luxury and style. The food was a delight A modern dinner menu, with good variety of options and tempting unusual choices. Breakfast was a feast, with an excellent choice of cold table with an array of fresh fruits, cheese, cold meats, yoghurts as well as the usual cereals and/or traditional cooked English breakfast. The staff were welcoming and friendly. With a groundfloor bedroom it could also accommodate my wheelchair! One point lost for rather noisy plumbing.Otherwise excellent. We will return!

We booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding in the same village. We had to battle to get the room booked as they usually only accept two night bookings but eventually they relented and we were allowed to book just the one night. The other sticking point was they only have a rate for dinner, bed and breakfast. As we were attending a wedding we wouldn't be requiring to dine with them but we still had to pay the full tariff. On arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who showed us to our room. Although the room was large and clean it was extremely dated with a 1970's avocado bathroom suite. Breakfast was pleasant enough although it wouldn't have hurt for our waitress to crack a smile. For the final sting in the tail, as we checked out the Manager complained about the cars from the wedding parked around the village (ours was in their car park!) All in all very average for a hotel costing £165 per night and I certainly won't be booking again!
