Disgustingly dirty hotel

My mother and I booked this hotel over the phone after a friend gave us the detals of several places in Great Yarmouth, all the others were full up and this hotel was not after arriving and seeing the room I can understand why. The bedding was very poor old and dingy, there were dirty tissues on the floor behind the bedside cabinet which I had moved to find a socket for my phone, the ensuite was tiny and grubby you woud have had to walk backwards to get onto the toiet as it was so small it was difficut to turn round in (I am not fat just average size 14). When we booked he insisted on cash to be sent by registered post and balance immediately on arrival before even seeing the room, unfortunately my mother was unwell, probably the result of seeing the room, and we had to leave to go home, we asked if we could have a refund of the balance paid that day ,we did not expect our deposit back, but we were told we could have no refund of any sort at that time. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone , well maybe my ex-husband!!! If you like to check in and out within the hour at the cost of ninety pounds then hey this is the place
Just couldn't stay all week !!!

Where do I start? Friendly owners, clean but very out-dated, respectable food just about covers the 2* rating. Car park is a good walk from the hotel in a locked compound down a back street. Room was VERY, VERY cramped with only just enough room for the double bed & single bed. View from bedroom window was non existant and therefore room seemed dark. There was barely enough room in the en-suite toilet & the toilet along the corridor to stand up with the door shut, let alone sit down (bewarned ladies). The pool is ONLY JUST a pool. (needed to get the status requirement of hotel I would imagine).
Entertainment was a lazer light show. Basically multi-coloured out of date disco lights being switched on & off to naff music. It was so awful we had to go for a walk instead as we cracked up with laughter.
We didn't stay the full week. We just couldn't take it. If you are strapped for cash and just want to be able to tell your neigbours you're stopping in a hotel, then this is the place for you. To me, it was a guest house with cramped add ons.

Dark & dingy

Dark & dingy hotel - checked in and checked out. No good if you suffer from claustrophobia. Car park 10 mins walk away from hotel, which is really inconvenient when you have a 2yr old. Would not recommend this hotel
Don't let the 2 stars put you off

Don't let the 2 stars put you off. If you like good food, clean accommodation and a great service for a reasonable price. Look no further. We stayed at the Chatsworth for a week and I can honestly say I came away satisfied and more importantly relaxed. The people who run the Chatsworth are the most friendly and helpful I have ever come across in a hotel here in the UK. And the price! Not the cheapest and not the most expensive either, but value for money for sure. The food was perfect, good English home cooked food, just how I like it.
