We could only feel sad that such a beautiful house and setting could be so disappointing. The food and the bar were a joke! The worst hotel experience I have ever had.

My husband and I visited Hartforth Hall Hotel for our eighth Christmas December 2008. To us it is a Jewel in the Yorkshire Crown. It is a 17th Century Manor House set in lovely Countryside. At christmas it comes alive with log fires, and a choir comes on Christmas Eve to sing Carols around a piano with the guests, before going into the Restaurant under the Arches for their evening meal. We enjoy getting away from the City to the tranquility of the yorkshire dales. Many places of interest to visit i.e. Bowes Castle, Durham, York, Castle Howard, Beamish and many more. The Owners are very helpful and are aware of the needs of their guests, and are always on hand should they be required. We have also visited during the Summer Months and shall do so again.

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. The owners are trading in past glory and the hotel has fallen to the bottom of the pile. The owners/management were sury and full of their own importance they forget who is paying the bill. The plumbing is third world standard the sound proofing non existant we could hear the next door occupant coughing all night and when we did get to sleep an alarm radio woke us up at some ungodly hour The food was dire the serving staff were nice and trying very hard to please in difficult circumstances. When we complained in the morning we were treated appallingly. Our stay was thoroughly disagreable.
