Great Value.. Plrease Readfrom A TripAdvisor Member
( my wife loved her, she was more than helpful)
Now the good, Food was excellent, first class, we enjoyed the self-service made a nice change from the plated at other hotels.
The evening Entertainments was top rate too, a gentleman called Steve was funny and enjoyable, we had a slight Sense of Butlins but Steve soon squashed that idea.
So please do look beyond the "one receptionist" to what we think is a great value break, we will be going back.

It was very cheap costing £140 for two adults and three children in two rooms, dinner bed and breakfast.
Room was 2* very basic and a little scruffy with tiles odd or missing on the ceiling.
Food was 3* not bad at all.
Hotel did not tell us that the coach taking us to Dover the next morning had been cancelled. After a long discusion/arguement it was sorted out. So check on arrival to see if it has been cancelled.
Not enough car parking so be ready to pay for parking near to hotel £6 for 24 hrs.
Overall a cheap hotel to use when going to France, Belgium etc.
Would go back again.

The room was just about ok and the staff we met were pleasant enough. Breakfast was tolerable.
we were fortunately only there for one night; my wife says that if ever we have to stay in places like this we stop taking holidays!
Worst hotel we have Ever stayed infrom Diguk
The room was dirty. The bedspread was curtain material which had a huge hole in the middle. The sheet had a hole in it too. One of the bedside cabinets was missing.
The ceiling had huge water stain marks. The corner of the window had the paper peeling off and there were mould marks around it.
We stayed on the fourth floor. The walls are paper thin. The couple next door decided to have a row at 7.15 am and I could hearing everything they said. We were positioned in the first bedroom by the lift. On the otherside of our wall was the staircase. It sounded like a hurd of elephants constantly going up and down the stairs during the night and especially in the morning.
At 4.10 am the fire alarm went off. Went outside the room - no-one obviously a false alarm, went back to bed alarm went off again. Hence very little sleep.
Tried to cancel our stay for the next night. Refused cancellation so we left and quite frankly although we could not get a refund it was worth it to leave.
great weekendfrom globalworthing
entertainment was good we just stayed in the Maritime lounge and was entertained by James, he was great with the kids.
if you like seafood dont miss out on chummys just down from the hotel.
for a budget holiday it is a perfect stay.
OK but weekends are betterfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Be prepared to queue for up to 15 minutes at the bar early evening as the two barstaff try to cope.
The hotel staff were quite friendly except for the rather rude female receptionists and it is because of them I will not be returning
5 day break Shearingsfrom style85
Self service meals a good idea, but no idea how to cook sprouts. Plenty of space in Dining room to sit at tables. Pork and the beef were excellent.
Free tea and coffee in ball room till 8.30 very nice.
Excellent cabaret each night.
Bedroom clean and tidy, but any rooms with showers were still over the bath.
Elderly people beware if you cant get into a bath...
Swimming pool a little dated, steam room nice. Bargain at £1.00 per session.
Trips a bit hecktic and very early starts for Ferry and Tunnel, need to spend a week with out trips to see Folkstone.
Cheap hotel - for a reason!from A TripAdvisor Member
1.Bedroom: I was extremely surprised when I noticed there was no shower in the room, just a bath! When I mentioned this at reception, I was asked if I'd requested a shower! I've never been in any hotel that doesn't have a shower in the room and wouldn't have thought of requesting a shower! Is it considered a luxury in Folkestone to be able to wash your hair?!! Also, only one plug socket in the room for TV, phone charger, hairdryer, travel iron...made life a bit difficult! However, there was a great view of the harbour, it was pretty clean and the good heater meant it was nice and warm...
2...the same cannot be said for the ground floor which was freezing cold. People were sitting around with their coats and gloves on. I even saw one woman knit a scarf and put it on!
3.The hotel badly needs refurbishment. It's very outdated. The lifts and stairs were also very dusty and the carpet on the stairs was threadbare.
4.Can't comment on the swimming pool - we had wanted to use this on Sunday but it was closed!
5.Restaurant: the food was generally ok, but breakfast was a bit chaotic - they ran out of food quickly and took ages to replace it meaning that there were long queues. Most of the food was also quite cheap, the yorkshire puddings on Sunday night were rock hard - you couldn't get a fork through them - and the coffee was tasteless.
6.I didn't see anyone cleaning the tables in the bar and evening room. They were quite dirty!
That said, the evening entertainment was good and the bingo caller was quite comical with his 'hooraaay' catchphrase! This meant that overall, I had a good laugh during the weekend - once I'd got over the initial shock!
Incredible value but please stop the tannoy!from CiaoBella13
The staff are excellent, very friendly and keen to cater to your requests....Room changes were provided quickly (first room we were given smelt like an ash tray) and extra pillows etc, arrived promptly. Can't speak highly enough of the dining staff. The food is basic and not luxury but is edible and there is plenty of it. School dinners spring to mind.
Evening entertainment was in 2 venues, and although not fantastic was far from boring and we spent two pleasant evenings (2 sessions of bingo every night, and Ballroom and Latin dancing along with a caberet in the Ballroom, and a singer/comedian/quiz medley in the bar area))
On the whole we had a good weekend but not as "special" as we were hoping for. I would suggest this hotel is definately adult orientated and perhaps older adults at that. Our party ranged from a 3 year old through early 20's to 70's and all of us had a good weekend, but we were all there to see my parents enjoy the weekend and were more concerned they were happy than ourselves. Perhaps the 4 20ish year olds would not have been happy had they been away on their own. We were certainly hoping for a little more luxury than we found.
I would be unlikely to return to the hotel and definately wouldn't consider it for anything other than a cheap and cheerful break.
