This hotel was easy to find, the check in was friendly and informal. The room was lovely, the bed was perfect, ameneties were more than adequate. I visit my son who lodges in Barnstaple regularly and have stayed in many different types of accomodation in and around Barnstaple. This is by far superior to any others I have used. Importantly for us my son was welcome and able to come and eat with me in the lovely dining room. The food was great and for the very first time I sat at a two person breakfast table which was actually big enough!! Can't recommend this Hotel enough.

Pros: Very close to Town centre (walking distance)

Breakfast was ok, service excellent.

Cons: Parking a Lottery (only got into hotel carpark once in 5 days, street parking round corner limited.

Noisy traffic if you stay in room overlooking front.

No Lift (3 floors no fun with large case).

No Lounge unlike most hotels.

WiFi only worked on ground floor (mentioned this but was told ok on ground floor, several flights of stairs for me just to check emails - no sense of Internet importence - shrugged shoulders)

Having read other reviews, we were slightly alarmed at the apparent lack of parking, but were able to park in the Hotel Car Park opposite the hotel (which only has three spaces but was never full whilst we were there so this was not a problem). The hotel itself was lovely and our room was large, clean and very comfortable with digital TV & DVD. The breakfast was very nice - you even got a mini breakfast canapé each day to keep you going until the main meal which was chosen each day from an extensive menu! There was a bit of traffic noise at night but this beautiful hotel would have been totally spoilt by modern double glazing - and after the first night we didn't even notice! All in all a great holiday and we wouldn't hesitate to go back, or recommend the hotel to our friends.
