Historical Traveller Reviews of Rowhill Grange Hotel and Spa

A little gem!

I have been reading some of the reviews and cant believe im reading about the same place me and a friend have stayed in over 4 times! Every time i go back it feels like i am home, the rooms are fab! i have never been overcharged and i can tell you i have been in 5 star hotels all over the world and not been treated as well as this spa hotel. The breakfast and food are first class, ok its not the Ritz but it is GOOD value for money i have had some great spa weekends deals there. I for one will continue to go there and have recommended my friends in the past, ALL of which have said what a great treasure this place is. Well done Rowhill keep up the good work.

Never Again

from asasdasd
Staff unfriendly, scaffolding and workmen all over hotel, check in late as room not ready, "fresh fruit in room" = 2 satsumas, prices in bar and restaurant ridiculous, on checking out bill was 150 pounds more than it should have been due to their errors. Spa good but cold and jacuzzi not working. Photos of spa look far better than the reality. Worst stay anywhere, ever. Would never go back.

So impressed!

My husband and I stayed at Rowhill Grange on the 18th November. We had booked a basic room and a few treatments in the Utopia Spa.
Our room was gorgeous - had a 4 poster (a terrible view) but we really did not care as we were here for relaxing in the spa.
Our treatments were excellent and the meal in Truffles was excellent.
We just felt very well treated and pampered and only wished we could have stayed longer!

ok but watch the extras / check the bill

I had a girlie spa stay with a girlfriend on a special package and the overall experience was middling. Neither of us would go back. They didnt seem to miss a trick in overcharging. High point was an excellent Utopia Spa full body massage which was great but water facilities there were shabby (ceiling over the pool had a gaping hole). room was comfortable but furniture cheap & bathroom smelt. Dining at Truffles restaurant (nouvelle cuisine/tiny) we were given the standard menu even though we told them we were on a package (watch out) . On check out we noticed a) they had added a substantial gratuity b) they added £20 onto the meal itself , stating firstly that we were only entitled to 2 courses and then changed their story to "we had chosen from the wrong menu", and c) They charged us an extra £3.50 for a bottle of spa water we never had. Reading the other reviews they obviously do this a lot as they were ready with their excuses . I expect honeymooners or "men" dont notice but we found it insulting and it ruined an already mediocre experience.

Over-rated food and hotel, but spa lovely

from MrandMrsDean
Stayed here this week for the last night of our honeymoon before heading back to reality. Disappointed. The spa is lovely, with a good range of treatments and you feel really looked after whilst there, but the rest is over-rated. The restaurant sadly is a rip-off, trying to be too clever with its combinations of foods, serving up over-cooked beef when ordered rare, and with staff who know very little about what they are serving. My husband had the cheese course and when it came, asked which cheeses they were, he was told 'it's cheese, sir', and when we ordered wine, we were asked to order by number not by name. Both these anecdotes would be fine in a standard restaurant but this place claims to be award-winning and prizes itself on its excellent restaurant. The Brasserie looked better, but it doubles up as the bar and the service was poor. After dinner we sat down there to have a drink, but after 15 minutes nobody had appeared to serve us, so we gave up! We stayed in the Groombridge suite which is beautiful but by no means worth the list price of 350 pounds a night. It's star feature, a two-person bath, is lovely ... but then no bubble bath is included, just a bar of soap, which seems like a real shame! So on balance, sadly, we really can't recommend Rowhill Grange for a stay.

Totally Relaxing!

from KathWilsey
The Rowhill Grange is a lovely, secluded hotel which totally satisfied every one of our needs during our relaxing girlie weekend away.

The 120 pounds Sunday Spa deal was defintely worth the money and the treatments were fabulous. One thing to be aware of is that when staying on a deal where you're aligable for a meal in the restaurant, you will be charged extra for any 'sides' during your meal. Also, a service charge is automatically charged to your account at the end of your stay.

Despite the tiny drawbacks on the extras (which do end up bumping up your bill at the end of the stay), the experience was definitely worth it and I would therefore go back.

Great break but a few tips

from is it hot or is it me
I booked Rowhill Grange as a 50th birthday present for my friend. We went together and only stayed for the night but really enjoyed the spa facilities which were top class. I booked on Laterooms so got a brilliant deal. The hotel was having a new reception area built and unfortunately they decided to drill and thump in the next room to us during breakfast. This was not a relaxing way to start the day and I have to say that the buffet breakfast was not what I would have expected from this class of hotel. Nevertheless, we did complain and the price of the breakfast was taken off the bill. Full marks for good customer care.

Our room was lovely although near to the kitchen and air conditioning unit outside. This was Orchid room so beware. We had to close the window to block out the noise. Still, it was a great break and the food in the brasserie was very good. We did not have any treatments but felt refreshed just using the pool, spa pool and steam room etc. Showers were great too.

Absolute chill out experience

from pinkpebl
Stayed here recently for a birthday treat and we were lucky enough that I secured a superior double room through a late booking website for £75 !!!

Suffice to say, the hotel made me feel completely chilled as soon as I walked in...the staff were professional, polite and courteous. I believe the guys name was Tom, who showed us to our rooms - again, professional and totally polite - carried our luggage for us - and made sure everything was OK with the room before he left.

About 2 hours later, another staff member checked in on us to make sure everything was still OK - which it was - it really couldn't have been more comfortable a stay for us. The room was clean, bright, airy and we also had complementary water and fruit on arrival - a nice touch. The bathrooms are very clean and bright with "Zing" products for you to use - very nice ladies !!

I sadly didn't have the chance to use any of the spa facilities as we were too busy enjoying the outside ambience of the brasserie where we sampled the delicious food and wine.

An absolute treat - and I have already re-booked for another treat in a month !

Go !! Go !! Go !!!

Great - Relaxing,lovely hotel

from Vicky33
Stayed at Rowhill Grange on a fantastic deal we got online for only £88 for double superior room 1 night stay on a sunday, with use of all there facilities and full english breakfast which was lovely. Had dinner in resturant which was a bit pricey for what you get but very nice. Hotel is very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Spa was great and although we wasn't meant to check in till 3pm, we arrived at 2pm and was able to use spa which was brill. The room was lovely although we got a view looking out at the back of resturant where the deliveries was, but you can't grumble for £88. Only disapointment was nothin to drastic only that the jacuzzi the following morning was freezing cold which was waiting to be repaired but hadn't by the time we checked out. Would reccomend this hotel but go on Sunday as you get great deals then!

Fantastic.....Incredibly relaxing!

My boyfriend took me to Rowhill Grange for an anniversary treat, from the moment we arrived we were completely pampered and left feeling totally relaxed. We had a "Perfect for 2" package booked, which although quite pricey was well worth the money. We checked in at 3pm, we were given our itinery for our treatment and a tour of the hotel and spa, then were taken to our "superior bedroom". The room had a lovely four poster bed, plenty of space and amazing views of the gardens. We were left with full length dressing gowns and slipper which we could wear aroud the whole complex all day - Untill 7pm, when they asked you dressed smarter. We were booked in for our first treatment at 5pm on the day of arrival, which was a Japanese hot oil massage. This was amazing I would Definitely recommend it. The therapist made the experience very enjoyable and even better was the fact that they didn't try and sell any products to us once. My boyfriend had the same treatment and also enjoyed it. We then used to Spa area, with includes a swimming pool, a Therapeutic pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Changing area were very clean and well keep with all the essential products girls need, Sampoo, conditioner, hairdryers, cleansers and moisturisers.
We had a meal booked for 8pm in the Truffles Restaurant. The decor and services in the Restaurant was fantastic...complete 5 star service. We were seated imediatley and didn't wait much longer than 15 minutes between each course. The menu was varied and the food was amazing. On our second day we had our second treatment booked in which was a percription facial, which again was extremely good and totally relaxing...again no hard sale on products, it was all left up to you. My boyfriend also had this treatment which was specific to his needs.
Over all I would Definitely recommend Rowhill Grange if you are looking for a relaxing and pampering few days. The service was Impeccable and the place was very clean and welcoming.

Top Local Tips for Dartford

Don't book direct. Book online with one of the last minute websites to get the best deals. Or go somewhere else!

Bluewaters Shopping Whilst the hotel had a tranquil setting it was within easy access of Bluewaters shopping centre. It is worthwhile checking the Hotels website and other third party websites for the best deals.

A must...... You have to go to Bluewater and Lakeside for the shopping. We had the added bonus that it is sale time so we managed to get many bargains,
