Peaceful stay with great food

Its been a couple of years since I last stayed here,the staff are still friendly and helpful and the rooms have been upgraded.The biggest change is the food its fantastic!I ate there for all five nights with a different starter and main,great value and huge portions.I will be back next year

Had a 3 night stay here and wish we could have stayed longer. Found all the staff to be helpfull and cheerful. Small family run hotel with a warm feeling about the place. Food was excellent, up there with the best seafood we've had anywhere in the world.

This is one of the true gems of family run pub hotels left in Cornwall. Rooms comfortable and newly refurbished as well as the bar area. Fresh fish was unbelievable and great value. Staff even though busy on the sat were still very helpful and accommodating. Keep up the good work, we will be back.

On a recent visit to the old ship with my wife and 2 kids, we were very pleased with every aspect of our stay right from the welcome at reception to our departure!! You will not find another family run hotel and public bar like this gem anywhere in Cornwall!!! We have already booked our next stay during August and can't wait to head back.

The staff couldn't have been more dis-interested in being there. Ignored us and totally unwelcoming and unfriendly. Shocking customer service considering how much they were charging for the premier room. The cleaning staff however were so much more polite friendly and welcoming - perhaps swap staff over to front of house. Cheer up the lot of you or get a job that you love!

Unbelievably smug manager who wouldn't accept complaints. Ensuite hadn't been cleaned properly, room was so noisy could have been in the bar - all this in a so-called 'Premium Room'. English breakfast tasted deep fried.

Hard to understand how they're still in business.

Top Local Tips for Padstow

Airport taxis Pre-book a minicab to collect you at the airport. The bio-fuelled airport taxi cost us £36 to Padstow, but the cab back to the airport cost £30, including an early-morning surcharge.

The custard Diner ,The Srand, Padstow We had the pleasure of eating out in this magnificent restaurant and experienced a truly delicious meal and the staff themselves were extremely polite and friendly, but book early to avoid disappointment especially at hugh season
