Historical Traveller Reviews of Stone Villa Hotel
The bed and breakfast is in a good location tucked away from the noise of the main road but within good walking distance to the city and train station.
Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. We both enjoyed the breakfast offered as there was a good choice. Try the full cooked breakfast, it was lovely before a busy day. The staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed.
We will be recommending this B&B to our family and friends when visiting Chester.
However, it was the finishing touches that were a little disappointing. We booked a executive room, however, in the bathroom the grout on many of the tiles was coming off, the shower did not have any power at all and I went to have a bath one evening (due to the low pressure shower) and there was no hot water.
Not only that but some of the skirting board was coming off in the bathroom. The view from the executive room was of a wall and there was a generator like noise that didn't go off until about midnight.
The sheet underneath the bed didn't fit, it was pulled up enough to fit under the pillow but did not tuck over and so if you are a fidget like I am I made a right mess of it overnight.
I may sound a bit nit-picky but paying for an executive room I would have expected the finishing touches to have been of a better standard. However, the breakfast made up for it!

The property is located at the end of a quiet close and has its own walled car park which is very convenient. The whole hotel is tastefully decorated and is so clean and cosy. We had an executive room which had an LCD TV. Every attention to detail was seen to - fresh milk and 2 bottles of water in the mini fridge, good quality products in the bathroom, beverage tray, biscuits and chocolates left with fresh towels each morning!
As for the breakfast........YUMMY!! Fantastic choice including various cereals, fruit, toast, several homemade jams and marmalades, choice of fruit juices, a fruit smoothie, tea/coffee. Full English breakfast was cooked to order and arrived quickly and hot. Delicious!
Betty, the owner, was extremely friendly and took the time to talk to all of her guests. We were made most welcome and made to feel at home.
In the reception area, there were plenty of leaflets for things to do in and around Chester, restaurants guides and magazines to read.
I can totally understand why guests return time and time again, this is a well run, homely hotel and we would have no hesitation in recommending this as our No.1 place to stay in Chester.

breakfasts were excellent with a great choice - fresh fruit, smoothie of the day, cereals as well as full cooked breakfast.
Staff were also really friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this place!!
great place to stayfrom suetNuneaton
On arrival I was very pleased with our choice as the outside looks very well cared for and has a fantastic display of flowers and plants. The car park does get busy but we had no trouble parking. We were welcomed and checked in very efficiently and shown to our room.
The room itself was fairly small but was immaculate. The bathroom was huge and again, immaculate. The nicest thing about this place is the thought and attention to detail which is evident everywhere. We were asked if we wanted fresh milk for our room, there was water in the fridge, a fan, iron, toothbrush and great toiletries. It has all the facilities of a big hotel but with the personal feel of a small hotel. Breakfast is plentiful and varied - a perfect start to a busy day exploring this lovely city!
We walked into Chester city centre and also called a taxi on another occasion. The fare is anly about £4. We ate at a couple of great restaurants - Pastarazzi and Upstairs at The Grill - both of which I'd highly recommend.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a bit of pampering at a very reasonable cost.

All the comfort advantages of a large hotel, but wrapped up in a very friendly personal service of a guest house. The bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast (watch out for, but don't miss out on, the boozy porridge) has a selection second to none.
Located walking distance (10-15 minutes to the city) but with Hoole centre shops just round the corner.
I have and will be recommending Stone Villa to friends and family
Thanks Betty and Ian for a very pleasant stay
