Historical Traveller Reviews of Stone Villa Hotel

We stayed at the stone villa for one night while visiting my sister at the university.
The bed and breakfast is in a good location tucked away from the noise of the main road but within good walking distance to the city and train station.
Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. We both enjoyed the breakfast offered as there was a good choice. Try the full cooked breakfast, it was lovely before a busy day. The staff were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed.
We will be recommending this B&B to our family and friends when visiting Chester.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. As I stay fairly regularly in hotels I have to say I was a little disappointed. The breakfast and service could not be faulted.

However, it was the finishing touches that were a little disappointing. We booked a executive room, however, in the bathroom the grout on many of the tiles was coming off, the shower did not have any power at all and I went to have a bath one evening (due to the low pressure shower) and there was no hot water.

Not only that but some of the skirting board was coming off in the bathroom. The view from the executive room was of a wall and there was a generator like noise that didn't go off until about midnight.

The sheet underneath the bed didn't fit, it was pulled up enough to fit under the pillow but did not tuck over and so if you are a fidget like I am I made a right mess of it overnight.

I may sound a bit nit-picky but paying for an executive room I would have expected the finishing touches to have been of a better standard. However, the breakfast made up for it!

little gem!

i booked this b+b for a weekend with my boyfriend after finding it on tripadvisor, and it didnt let us down. Staff were very very helpful, rooms were clean and spacious. the little things like the chocolates on the bed were a nice touch.breakfast was a highlight, loads of choice, and very yum. its easly to find, and good parking, when we arrived it was full but still had somewhere to park. easy to find, even in the dark like we did, and about about a 10 mins walk to the centre of the city. highly recommended!

We spent a wonderful 2 night stay in Stone Villa Hotel in Chester.

The property is located at the end of a quiet close and has its own walled car park which is very convenient. The whole hotel is tastefully decorated and is so clean and cosy. We had an executive room which had an LCD TV. Every attention to detail was seen to - fresh milk and 2 bottles of water in the mini fridge, good quality products in the bathroom, beverage tray, biscuits and chocolates left with fresh towels each morning!

As for the breakfast........YUMMY!! Fantastic choice including various cereals, fruit, toast, several homemade jams and marmalades, choice of fruit juices, a fruit smoothie, tea/coffee. Full English breakfast was cooked to order and arrived quickly and hot. Delicious!

Betty, the owner, was extremely friendly and took the time to talk to all of her guests. We were made most welcome and made to feel at home.

In the reception area, there were plenty of leaflets for things to do in and around Chester, restaurants guides and magazines to read.

I can totally understand why guests return time and time again, this is a well run, homely hotel and we would have no hesitation in recommending this as our No.1 place to stay in Chester.

Superb value

We found this place through TripAdvisor and again, it didn't let us down. We had an excellent stay here - our room was really well equipped - water in fridge, fresh milk for coffee, good selection of tea and coffee, flatscreen tv, iron (although the board was missing one leg but was still usable). The little extras like the chocolates on the bed on the first night really gave it that little extra touch.

breakfasts were excellent with a great choice - fresh fruit, smoothie of the day, cereals as well as full cooked breakfast.

Staff were also really friendly and helpful.

I would definitely recommend this place!!

I stayed at stone villa for 4 nights whilst on business in chester. I chose an executive room that proved to be very comfortable and clean. The atmosphere is lovely with a genuinely warm welcome. I would recommend the hotel to all travellers, a great place to stay in a convenient location for the city centre.

I stayed here with my partner for 2 nights for a visit to Chester. I found the hotel on Tripadvisor and booked because of the positive reviews and good price.

On arrival I was very pleased with our choice as the outside looks very well cared for and has a fantastic display of flowers and plants. The car park does get busy but we had no trouble parking. We were welcomed and checked in very efficiently and shown to our room.

The room itself was fairly small but was immaculate. The bathroom was huge and again, immaculate. The nicest thing about this place is the thought and attention to detail which is evident everywhere. We were asked if we wanted fresh milk for our room, there was water in the fridge, a fan, iron, toothbrush and great toiletries. It has all the facilities of a big hotel but with the personal feel of a small hotel. Breakfast is plentiful and varied - a perfect start to a busy day exploring this lovely city!

We walked into Chester city centre and also called a taxi on another occasion. The fare is anly about £4. We ate at a couple of great restaurants - Pastarazzi and Upstairs at The Grill - both of which I'd highly recommend.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a bit of pampering at a very reasonable cost.

We stay at the Stone Villa as an end of seaon treat every year (we own a Guest House in Blackpool). It is a haven - quiet, clean, comfortable, quality accommodation. Betty is friendly and welcoming and the food is first class. We have stayed at other hotels of the same size and can honestly say that this is the best value accommodation I have had the pleasure of visiting. Looking forward to being back again this year.

We stayed for three nights in july, the first stop on a two week tour of England and wales. Betty and Ian made us very welcome from the start and the hotel has a warm and relaxing atmosphere which made us wish we had booked it for a longer stay. The rooms were very cosy and the breakfast was always exceptional, if it had of been an all day breakfast i would not have left the hotel!! it really was that good. Thank you Betty and Ian for a great start to lovely holiday.

Temporary Home

I had the great opportunityy to stay at Chester Stone Villa for 6 weeks, whilst relocating from back Germany to UK.
All the comfort advantages of a large hotel, but wrapped up in a very friendly personal service of a guest house. The bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast (watch out for, but don't miss out on, the boozy porridge) has a selection second to none.
Located walking distance (10-15 minutes to the city) but with Hoole centre shops just round the corner.
I have and will be recommending Stone Villa to friends and family
Thanks Betty and Ian for a very pleasant stay
