Lovely hotel in a beautiful locationfrom RuthH
We had a family room for two adults and a toddler, and were delighted to find out that it was actually a suite (room 36). There were two armchairs which pulled out into beds, then a separate bedroom and bathroom. The decor was lovely, and we had lovely views over the fields from the lounge window. I thought that the bed settee was ok for our nearly three year old, but would imagine that it could be quite uncomfortable for older children.
We ate in Nelson's bar both nights, the food was fantastic (only order the hotpot if you have a hearty appetite!). Even food from the children's menu was homemade which is a nice change.
Used the pool both days, and have to say that it is probably one of the nicest pool areas we have seen at a hotel. Children have to be out by 6pm, but this wasn't a problem to us.
The hotel seems a popular location for weddings, so we would probably avoid it on a week-end, but saying that the bar area is large enough to be able to get away from the crowd.
All staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Would definitely return again.
Great hotel!from A TripAdvisor Member
The executive rooms are very stylishly and comfortably kitted out (complete with plasma TV disguised as a mirror), the surroundings are peaceful and the hotel is well equipped with gym, swimming pool and steam room / sauna.
The food in the restaurant is also of a good standard.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Grosvenor Pulford hotel.

Would not go backfrom Nervous_Flyer
Food in restuarant is very nice but very overpriced.
On check out we were asked if everything had been alright and when we explained the numerous reasons why it had not been, we were met with a shrug of the shoulders and a simple "sorry about that".
Suffice to say we won't be returning!
Perfect weekend getaway...from NB
The major attraction for us were the facilities - ie. swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. These make a stay well worth it.
Only minor gripe is that the service isn't brilliant, for example, papers have to collected from reception, rather than being delivered to the room, although there is no mention of this beforehand.
Other than that, a very good hotel, well worth a weekend away, especially if you can get a good deal through Laterooms, like we did.
Valentines specialfrom A TripAdvisor Member
I wanted to do something very special for my valentine of 25yrs (my lovely wife Debra), she hadn't visited Chester since her school days, so Chester was the perfect place to romance her again.
There were 4 things that I needed to encapsulate in this one break:
A romantic evening in a romantic setting
A four poster bed
And finally, to melt my Valentines Heart once again.
The Grosvenor Pulford was the perfect place, the Hotel is out of this world, the staff were brilliant, the room was outstanding and the Valentines dinner dance and Lionel Richie tribute and disco was excellent.
It all couldn't of worked out more perfect, I'd like to thank all at the Pulford for making this one of the best nights of our lives, it was all so perfect.
Loved the hotel although bedroom leaved a lot to be desiredfrom Gail-H
Upon entering I was a little bemused by the fact that although we had booked an executive room there were no views and certainly I was under the impression that it was more of a standard room. Our room looked out onto the restaurant roof and no other views. I was looking forward to having two floors as the previous reviewer had said but this was not the case. As we were only there 1 night we didnt really feel the need to complain. On checking the room I found the furniture needed replacing a lot of it had large scratch marks on the dressing table and also the drawers. The throwover had what seemed like dried blood on it so that was not used and the shower head needed replacing.
On to the positive notes, we ate at Nelsons during the day for our lunch and the food was beautiful. Not to be outdone we tried Cirro in the evening. The lamb was define and my other said his pork was excellent. The restaurant is beautifully set out in the style of a roman theme and it really did feel like we were somewhere further than Chester.
Having retired to bed after a few drinks I noticed that our room was next to some sort of generator which continued all night and also the staff using the staff only lift for most of the night.
The leisure club was superb - highly recommended.
Breakfast was usual standard stuff with nothing special. I would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again but would avoid room 56.
There is a bus which runs every 10 minutes into Chester which stops outside.
We went into Wrexham for the day on the Sunday rather than our usual place Chester but it was a let down. Nothing different from your usual city centre shops. Spent all of 40 minutes there and spent the rest of the day in Chester.
Do try this hotel a few niggles haven't put us off and we are hoping to go during the New Year's Eve celebrations.
Top Local Tips for Chester
Showery Day Shoping One advantage of Chester is that with the Rows being covered yet open to the elements you can still enjoy shopping and take in the views on a showery day - ground level when it's fine, upper level when it's not.
Discover Chester Don't miss the open top bus because you get a real overview of Chester and then can decide what you would like to see more of. The boat ride on the River Dee is excellent and the Tour of Chester Cathedral is definitely worth a look. Enjoy!
park and ride fantastic on way into chester on wrexham rd bus £1.50 each for return ticket, free parking and run every 10 mins. so easy and ran until 7pm!!! great alternative to £7 parking at race course!!!
