Great Afternoon Tea

from A TripAdvisor Member
Me and my husband have stayed here twice now and both times have been fab, I think the spa and pool are really nice and the food is great, although it is a little bit expensive. Afternoon tea is the best dont bother having lunch wait till you have this!
We had different rooms both times and they were clean and very comfortable. We did have a bit of an issue with the room but this was sorted quickly and professionally. The staff were very helpful and polite and i love the guy in the restaurant playing the piano, he was great. Will go back soon.

relaxing break

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have just got back from a fantastic 2 night break at carden park .The hotel is set in a beautiful location with stunning views, if you ask for a golf view in the main building ,which is where i would suggest you ask to stay not the new buildings at the back of the hotel. The reception area is fantastic and you can sit in the evening with a drink and people watch next to a warm fire. The facilities are excellent and include everything you can imagin. We took our new baby and nothing was a problem .Breakfast is the best ive ever had and evening meal is fine .This was our 4th visit and i would like to think we will be going again soon.

My first and now favourite hotel!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Carden Park was the first hotel I've ever stayed at. My boyfriend took me there for the weekend, and I have to say I was very impressed. The grounds were beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the courtyard which was like our own little private hotel away from the main hotel building. The room was very big and consisted of a king size bed, a small kitchen area, a lovely clean and fresh bathroom, very large wardrobe and a little dressing area. The room was nicely decorated and had a nice view of the mini grounds in the courtyard. We arrived on the Thursday night and checked in, had a look around and a drink in the main bar. It was nice watching all the people dressed up and going for a posh meal in the Garden restaurant while listening to the pianoist playing, who is there most weekends I believe. We ate our breakfast in the Garden restaurant in the morning which was delicious. Their hash browns are fabulous! We used the leisure throughout the day on Friday. The pool really is as nice as it looks in the brochure! We ate in the Brasserie that night, which we had not thought to book a table at, silly really, with it being on a Friday night. The staff at the restaurant went out of their way to fit us in, (considering it was such a busy night). We ate a lovely meal, which was quite a big portion as well. We had an extra treat on the Saturday, because the PGA Seniors Golf Tour was taking place, there was a nice atmosphere in this hotel. Outside there was a wine tasting tent and a beer tent, and a few other attractions we had a walk around. We ate our lunch in the Brasserie on the Saturday. It is a nice informal place to eat. I didn't want to go home. I had such a nice time! Even though we had only been there a weekend, it was such a nice relaxing break that I felt we had been there much longer. We enjoyed ourselves at Carden Park so much that we booked to go again inbetween Christmas and New Year on their interlude package. I am very excited about returning, and can imagine it being decorated beautifully for Christmas. I will get back to you on that one!

Dissapointing hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I recently stayed at the Carden Park hotel, we booked a deluxe double room, I placed an item of clothing on the shelf of the wardrobe and on removing it found it covered in dust, there was black mould around the bath seal, the bathroom floor flooded when the shower was used, the shower was very poor (low pressure).
We found it very difficult to sleep as the springs in the centre of the matress were weak and we kept rolling into the middle.
The meals in the garden restaurant were very expensive and if you like vegetables there is an extra charge for each type of vegetable.
On the plus side the staff are very friendly. Overall it was a dissapointing and expensive break.

Nice Kippers

Stayed at this hotel for a "get away from it" weekend, and it did exactly what it said on the tin.

Great spa area - never seemed busy
Good food in restaruant and bistro
Excellent breakfast
Good golf course on the doorstep
Staff very helpful

Weird room layout in "Courtyards" - 2 min outdoor walk to hotel!
No minibar in room
Freaked up parking arrangement when we got there.

Keep an eye out for the deals through de veres website - worth it.

ve seen better.

My boyfriend and I have been on many weekend breaks in the UK and, considering how much this cost, we were expecting a great hotel. Upon arrival we found that the car park for residents is a bit of a hike away however, golfers can park next to the hotel. The room was large and nicely decorated but there were cigarette burns in the bedspread. Also, when we took a shower, the bathroom floor flooded due to a poorly fitted bath.
We had reserved a table in The Garden Restaurant for 2 nights and the food was really good. Everything was cooked to our liking and the choice was pretty varied. Large parties choosing the carvery option detracted from the overall dining experience also, the dress code was not enforced and there were several other diners dressed in jeans. Although the food and service were above average, it was not the romantic experience we hoped for.
I would say that this hotel is not worth the money. I think if I were to visit Chester again, I'd pay the extra money and stay at The Chester Grosvenor Spa. We ate there on Friday night and had a wonderful evening.

A lovely hotel - great room (loads of space), really pampered in the spa, food was cooked to perfection and staff were very helpful

Excellent hotel - lovely setting

from Alun4475
My wife and I have just returned from 3 nights at the Carden Park. This is a really top class hotel set in acres of its own grounds. The hotel facilities are really good and the spa and pool as good as anywhere I've been. One thing that stood out was the friendliness of the staff. There was none of the snobbiness which you often get in hotels not nearly as good as this one. Nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was really nice and well maintained, and was in a lodge separate to the main hotel (although we were upgraded to a suite on the second night because it was our anniversary). It was a smoking room but you'd never know. The hotel was actually full due to a conference but there was no problem in getting served in the restaurant or bar. We went down to breakfast at about 8.15 each morning and it was always relaxed with nothing running out and none of the chaotic scenes which I've experienced elsewhere. This hotel is a good base for exploring Cheshire and Liverpool too.

If I had one gripe, it would be that the hotel could do with somewhere to get more 'ordinary' food. The main restaurant is a shirt and trousers job. There is another - the Brasserie - but that seems to have a lot of fish and not much else. I could have done with a nice pasta or Baked Potato but that's just me being a Prole! The food we did have was always beautifully done.

s glory!

My wife and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary here at the end of April and had a wonderful stay. We stayed in a Junior King Suite, which was just as described. The only gripe I would have being that they did not provide complimentary mineral water, which you would expect for such room rates.

We ate in both restaurants and the food was excellent. I would also recommend the room service breakfast as it was superb. So often room services breakfasts are a very poor standard but this was excellent.

The hotel offers plenty to do if you have deep wallets! We hired bikes, and played snooker. It is a shame that the hotel has to charge residents for these activities and would be a nice touch if they were free to guests.

We also used the on-site activity centre to go Quad Biking which was fantastic! We also played the 9 hole, par 3 golf course. This was fun, but you take your life in your own hands on the first hole as it is adjacent to the driving range, and a few missiles can come your way!

Overall, an excellent country hotel, if a little overpriced.

very nice indeed

My wife and I stayed at the Carden Park on a DB&B basis and Dinner was very good indeed, as was breakfast. The service was top notch, what ever we asked for we got. I would recommend this hotel to one and all. I do hope we get the chance to visit again.
