Nice foyer and bar area. Good breakfast choice although I thought the full English could have done with being a bit bigger. 1 sausage, 1 small rasher of bacon, 1/2 a tomato, 1 small hash brown, 1 egg and a small helping of beans. Our room had en-suite but the washbasin was just one of those very small ones that are used for hand washing and nowhere near big enough for a proper wash. This was really awkward because the en-suite was very small and it was impossible to fit a proper washbasin in. Room clean. Staff very friendly.
Try another!

Stayed at Bawn Lodge in May this year ... our advice is try a differnt hotel! Greeted at reception by a glowering chap.. never saw him smile once in the whole of our stay there! He took us to our 'en-suite' room, the bathroom being out of the room and across a corridor! When I remarked that we had booked an ensuite we were glowered at again & informed that 'this is classed as ensuite.' Interesting experience when a trip to the loo in the middle of the night necessitated finding clothes to put on & remember your reading glasses so you can see the code on the key pad to open the door! His assurance that we could leave the bathroom door unlocked as 'no-one ever comes down here' proved somewhat inaccurate when we realised it was just feet away from the route to the dining room and exit. Watch your feet in that bathroom too .. missing trim at the base of the shower means toes are exposed to broken edges of ceramic tiles. Laminate floors in the bedrooms seemed like a good idea , but maybe not when fellow guests in the room above returned at 3 in the morning and appeared to be packing for a speedy exit next day. Carpet may be less hygenic but it's gentler on the ears! Breakfast was OK-ish but we're not fans of tinned tomatoes. It was however served by a cheerful Canadian girl - the one bright spot in an otherwise somewhat dismal experience.

Having worked late in the first week of our stay, Rob the owner opened up the kitchen to make my mate and I some food at 10:30pm so we had something to eat this was just one of the many things the hotel did for people who stayed there. That is why we stayed the whole 5 month of our business in Chester at the Bawnlodge.
I rated this hotel a 10 as I stay in alot of places around the UK and this is the best hotel I have stayed in for price, staff and the new bar area which is also used alot by the locals because of it's friendly staff and cheap prices.
