Top Local Tips for Carlisle

My favorite city to visit Enjoy all there is to see and do. Since my focus is on history and genealogy, I can't speak to the sports fan or those with smaller children (theme parks). I do know there is a racecourse south of town. You're eight miles from Greta Green in Scotland. The Borders of Scotland are easy to drive into for even more to see. There are also bus tours from town to Gretna, Lanercost Priory, and maybe Hadrian's Wall. I plan to check out the latter on my next trip, since I've enjoyed the other two. Most of my meals were in pubs - the Black Lion is my favorite. It's south of town on Durdar Rd. Also the Horse & Jockey in Plumbland and Mason's Arms in Gilcrux - I drove about the country side. A group of us also had lunch at a pub in Talkin, east of town, closer to Brampton. I always ate well and the food was presented attractively. I didn't seek out the expensive restaurants although there may be some. I did have some Indian food which was good. I do like to eat well.

Nice Guys I found the taxi drivers of Carlise to be friendly and Knowledgeable, Need a decent restaurant on a Friday night?ask a cabby
