The worst hotel in the UK I have ever stayed in

I thought hotels like this, reminiscent of my childhood, had disappeared. Unfortunately I was wrong - dingy furnishings, surly service and a lounge where it was impossible to sit as the owners' child had its toys spread all over the floor. The bedroom was grubby and tiny with a minute TV situated right by the washbasin so that it got sprayed with water . It didn't work well anyway. There was a pair of dirty underpants lying on the bathroom floor. When I asked for coffee at breakfast I was told they didn't serve it, only tea. Then I was told grudgingly that there was only Nescafé. "Nescafé" I cried, to which the reply was "Well, it is Gold Blend!". Of course, this was several years ago, so it may have improved and if you're not fussy then it is cheap.
