How We Love to Knock Success!

My review is based on 12 years of staying in 4 and 5 star hotels all over Europe. Considering this is currently only a Five Hotel Group, Larger Hotel Groups could learn a lot from the City Inn, especially the City Inn, Bristol. It's a really good and cool hotel!. All of the staff are friendly and professional and considering some of them are not local, their local knowledge is excellent. The rooms are a good size and very clean. Very modern with air cond to rooms. FREE roomsafe, didnt use the in-room fridge but good selection in there. Complimentary tea/coffee. The bed was so comfortable that I just drifted off every night and as I have a Super King at home, I'm really hard to please when it comes to a bed. Ok, so the bathroom is a bit small, but hey it has everything there, a power shower, a good sized washbasin, a toilet, and a really neat mirror over the washbasin, which is heated, "the mirror never mists over" - Fantastic! FREE Wireless Internet - Wow! A really good selection of up-to-date cds and dvds and all channels on the TV are FREE. The restaurant food was surperb as was the bar service. Here's my only real gripe, breakfast could be a bit slow, but hey when you suddenly have 30+ covers to do in like a 15 minute span, that's pretty good. My friends are I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks, so it was a home from home!. I wish City Inn Group all the best for the future and I will certainly stay there again either as a Business Guest or Weekend Guest.

Nice Hotel, great location but shame about some things!

10 mins walk from Temple Meads, so great location as you can walk to most attractions. AN old office block I am assuming converted into a Boutique hotel. Rooms disappointly small, in fact about the size of the nearby Travel Inn/ HIE budget ones but not for budget price! The bathrooms only had a small shower and very tightly packed which was a disappointment & housekeeping hadn't checked it as empty toiletries bottles still in shower! We did their special weekend rate with breakfast and wine etc at extra rate, they did have a cheaper rate but we had been lead to believe this would be a better deal. The other rate to me would have been better! Dinner in their small but pleasant place downstairs was lovely, and was £25 per head table d'hote menu. Breakfast was buffet style, but you could order other things with the young waiting staff but no one told you this and you missed out on things like poached eggs instead of the standard scrambled on the buffet. Reception staff were not overly friendly. Glad I tried it as it had been bugging me what it was like, but in no rush to go back but at the same time I wouldn't tell folk no. It just depends on what you are looking for, and I'd have loved a bath or at least a bigger bathroom and not a 4ft 6 bed and some not so tasty Ikea type furniture in my room!
