The bathrooms only had a small shower and very tightly packed which was a disappointment & housekeeping hadn't checked it as empty toiletries bottles still in shower! We did their special weekend rate with breakfast and wine etc at extra rate, they did have a cheaper rate but we had been lead to believe this would be a better deal. The other rate to me would have been better!
Dinner in their small but pleasant place downstairs was lovely, and was £25 per head table d'hote menu. Breakfast was buffet style, but you could order other things with the young waiting staff but no one told you this and you missed out on things like poached eggs instead of the standard scrambled on the buffet.
Reception staff were not overly friendly.
Glad I tried it as it had been bugging me what it was like, but in no rush to go back but at the same time I wouldn't tell folk no. It just depends on what you are looking for, and I'd have loved a bath or at least a bigger bathroom and not a 4ft 6 bed and some not so tasty Ikea type furniture in my room!

Excellent Hotel! :-)
from A TripAdvisor Memberfantastic
from chrissy077amazing
from A TripAdvisor MemberRooms were well maintained with excellent facilities.
restaurant served increbile food both for the evening and breakfast
cannot comment on the location as never left the hotel! but seemed like a safe area
noise outweighs positives
from peterjames2000Nice and Practical
from A TripAdvisor MemberI view it almost like an upmarket Travel Lodge/Inn good for business travellers or for short/functional leisure stays when you will only be using the room to sleep etc and not planning to stay in the hotel most of the weekend.
The rooms claim to be very soundproof, we did here some noise from the corridor but nothing much.

from nannonsSo near ...
from RoamingScotGood points :
- Rooms are clean and modern
- (Smallish) widscreen TV and DVD player in each room
- Free broadband internet from each room (and wireless in public areas)
- Comfortable double bed
But :
- Rooms are very small. The bed may be a double, but there isn't really space for two people to move around without colliding all the time. The bathroom is absolutely tiny, too, and has only got a shower - no bath.
- Free porn channel on the TV. Some might regard it as a plus, but I didn't appreciate finding this with no warning while channel hopping. Reception also told me that there was no way of blocking access to the channel from the room.
- No way to set a wakeup call, through the TV or the phone.
There were other minor annoyances in the room, like built in coat hangers which fell out at the slightest provocation. The rooms looked nice, but they just weren't very well though out from a practical point of view.
Coupled to this, I had some problem or other each time I stayed - being allocated a smoking room when I had asked for a non-smoking, and so on.
The end result was that I just got irritated with the place. With more space in the room, and some more thought for the practicalities, it could be a really good hotel. As it is, it's OK for a night or two as somewhere to put your head, but don't expect too much.
wonderful...
from A TripAdvisor MemberNice Hotel, Great Staff, Shame about the other guests!
from Limehouse2002Great staff, okay hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe room was okay: it was quite small and to be honest it was a bit like a good student hall of residence... nice big comfy bed, though, and the en suite was small but nice.
Dinner was excellent! Although we were less keen on the breakfast.
Probably a better hotel for business travel than leisure, as it's a bit pricey for what you get.
Top Local Tips for Bristol
Handy for Bath, Cheddar Gorge, and Wells but in the City-best of both worlds! See Bath and Wells whilst you are here as transport is excellent. The SS Great Britain is permanently moored at the Dock, and there are numerous things to do in and around Bristol, whether it is theatre, shopping, nightlife or great restaurants.
Curry Had a very disappointing, tasteless curry on Sat evening in the Raj. although the staff were very pleasant despite being busy. We are experienced curry eaters of many years, who benefit from freshly prepared and authentic curries in Ilford and east London, and were amazed that this one was so poor. Perhaps we were just unlucky on our choices?
Drive to your evenign meal Eat at the choice of eateries on the docks - much more atmosphere and variety
