Looking at other online reviews, a few people have hit lucky and had an ok stay here. I wouldn't advise you to risk it though - there is just so much wrong with the hotel, from the tatty carpet at reception through to the broken lift buttons and the very noisy rooms, and that's just for starters... The staff seem to try hard, but they can't make up for the state of the building.

We arrived automatic doors not working. Reception check in was fine. Hotel has poor lighting, rooms are small, wallpaper peeling. Sink stained, only 1 average sized towel and two small ones. Heating not working..corridoors smell damp..late night bar is very noisy any thought of a late drink and chat is impossible...only rec is breakfast as is very good....Sorry to say this but go elsewhere the place is a dump!

What a farce

I arrived on the sunday as a delegate for a conference the whole hotel was booked due to the conference so you would have thought they would have made a effort. Holes in the walls smelly toilet dirty bed and a damp milk smell, when complaining was informed there was no smell and no apology for the mess. A strange bobbly brown blanket which gave me flea bites and a faulty shower made my stay even worse. I would not let my worse enemy sleep there.

Unfortunately we did not realize the Quality until we arrived. Reception looked like a youth hostel, very cold and unwelcoming. However staff I must stress, were very nice. 604 had a musty smell and was dingy. I turned back bedclothes to find a coffee (?)stained what I can only call ‘horse blanket' full of ‘bobbles' because it was so old. I telephoned reception immediately to change the blanket, then we went shopping to return late afternoon. The bed had not been changed. We then had to return to the shops and BUY a new duvet to sleep under. The bath tap would not switch from shower to bath, the taps were also very loose. We had no apology from the poor manager who looked petrified and offered us a bottle of wine. No way! Eventually he offered us 10% discount which in retrospect did not compensate our weekend. He also paid for the duvet.
Breakfast was a farce. we literally had to find a table ourselves, self-service was definitely the system here. We did not have knives, forks, milk, cups, a clean table, people were queuing for tables, with no-one to check them in and then sitting at dirty tables. The food was just edible.

This hotel smells. There is nothing "quality" about it and all the staff know that. We booked through expedia who will not give us full refund even though we walked out as soon as we saw the room and the smell was so offensive it was nauseous. Its dirty. The windows are filthy. Rooms are small and dark. We had to walk the streets looking for a bed and breakfast as all hotels were booked by the time Quality hotel let you check in after 3pm. Luckily we found a huge family room in a bed and breakfast at half the price. Otherwise we would have had nowhere to stay the night and had travelled for 8 hours with a 5 year old. I would advise single travellers or anyone with a modicum of taste NOT to book this hotel.

Quite possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, the 2 rating I have given is just for the breakfast which was very nice. Very unhelpful staff, small dingy room with a broken shower, broken remote control, rock hard bed and not cleaned throughout the duration of my stay.
Check-in took 40 minutes,check out took 45 minutes!! Very over priced for such a bad hotel,Faulty Towers only not funny at over £100 per night!!

After reading these reviews having already booked the hotel I was very apprehensive about staying here, however we experienced none of the bad service or quality as mentioned below so left feeling happy that we had found such a good deal. We found a space in the car park without problem, the hotel cannot be at fault if a public car park is full, finding a hotel in Brighton with a car park is few and far between so having them offer a cheaper rate with NCP is a bonus, the hotel give you this information but cannot guarantee you a space nor do they say they can. We checked in quickly and smoothly, the receptionist Matthew was more than helpful. The room was clean with enough space for the two of us not to feel cramped, granted it did look slightly tatty from age but not dirty at all and the bathroom was also basic yet clean. We paid a total of 88.00GBP for two of us for a two night stay by booking through laterooms and with a full English breakfast included this was a great deal. If you come to Brighton for a peaceful stay I would recommend looking into the location of the hotel you choose to stay in a little more thoroughly, the Quality is in the heart of Brighton, next door to a cinema and opp. clubs and bars so you will experience some noise from the clubbers and people leaving late showings from the cinema but as we were there to do much of the same this didn't bother us and noise from people on the street cannot be the fault of the hotel. When asking for recommendations about where to go in the evening again the Receptionist Matthew was extremely forthcoming and very helpful and had time to give us some good ideas about where to head for for our night out. There was a long queue to check out but as that was at 11am when everyone had to check out by we weren't suprised, we opted for the express check out and were out of the hotel within 2 minutes of leaving our room. As for security the door to our room had a chain which you could put on from the inside at night and the main doors to the reception were locked and reception was manned 24 hours a day. The security here didn't seem any less than at any previous hotel I have stayed in. All in all a pleasant stay with friendly staff and good value for money. Will definitly stay again when next in Brighton.

Single female traveller?.... stay away from this place!

This hotel is without doubt the worst I have stayed in. Both lifts were broken, and I had to walk all the way to the 9th floor with baggage. The hotel is not secure, and you get the feeling that anyone could just wander in unchecked! I found a drunk man asleep on the floor outside my room, and reception seemed neither bothered or motivate to do anything about it. My bed sheets, pillows, walls and bathroom were really dirty. Intimidating, filthy and a place that I would strongly advise single female to avoid at all cost!

we stayed in this hotel over 10 years ago when everything was new and clean but when we returned last week we found that it had gone down hill. the reception area was tatty the room small with crumbling walls and ripped wallpaper the bathroom tiles were all cracked as was the washbasin in fact i could only bare to be in there to sleep and that was not great as there was a concert around the corner and the revellers were still at it at 3.30am which i hasten to add was not the hotel's fault. the breakfast is not included in the cost and at almost £12 per head i considered not worth it.i saw the restaurant menu for evening which was only a fast food type menu.i think this hotel needs a full refurbishment or a change of name to warrant the quality aspect.

I cannot slate this 'quality hotel' enough.
Chaos and disorganisation surrounded our check in, and the staff just about managed to be polite. That aside, we were looking forward to getting to our room only to discover cigarette ash on the carpet, a vile unfathomable smell and, worst of all, blood stains on the sheets. The bathroom was grotty but appeared to be clean in comparison (or, there were no visible marks, hairs, etc).
It is certainly a cheap stay, but is not to be recommended to anyone!

Quality - what a joke!

This was the only hotel we could book for a one-night weekend break in August, and it was a complete joke. Luckily I had read the other reviews on Trip Advisor so was expecting the worst - and this is exactly what we got! Very expensive, rubbish quality, small noisy room, only one lift working, full of stag/hen parties, long queues to check in & check out, disgusting breakfast, not able to park in their 'discount' car park. And oh yes, the fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night. I only hope the hotel management reads these reviews.

Myself and my boyfriend arrived at this hotel and had to wait ages to check in, then when we went to our room they had given us a family room and then could not move us. The room was horrible, torn wall paper and very basic for the money we paid. When we asked to be moved the staff were so unhelpful so i had to ask for a manger and say we were not going to stay here for the money i had paid. They then let us have the room cheaper. Luckily we had only booked the one night as i could not stay there another night.

Double room, not bad size, fairly clean, generous amount of towels, good tea-making facilities. HOWEVER excessively noisy! Could hear toilets flushing from other rooms, people screaming and shouting outside all night, alarm went off twice at 5am one morning for no reason at all! Breakfast was not too great, the sausages and bacon particularly bad. The staff were friendly enough but I would not stay here again too much noise for my liking... Oh yes and the sight of young guys playing football on the hotel flat roof was a bit disconcerting....

Was due to go to another hotel, but booking was changed at the last minute and was worried after reading some of the reviews. As we were a Hen Party, the hotel was right in the centre of Brightons night life. We found the staff helpful and the Dj in Henry J Beans was a great laugh, he said we were the best hen party that had stayed in the hotel, so Dan if you read this we all send you a big kiss from the girls in Southampton. Rooms clean and basic, great breakfast.

If screaming hen parties and a load of drunk teenagers are your thing then this is the hotel for you!! Ok.. we all go to Brighton for a fun weekend but this hotel reminded my of a school trip with free alcohol, not a city center hotel. Our small room was OK but the bathroom was dirty and smelt a bit musty. I would of felt cleaner washing in the sea!! Apart from this, the location is not bad and breakfast was tasty!! Unless you are part of a hen/stag party or 16-21 then avoid this hotel!!!!
