Top Local Tips for Brighton
Brighton Hotels Not really a tip - just an observation. I have no idea how they continue to get away with it. Brighton has some of the worst hotels in the country, all charging exhorbitant rates. Maybe if you spend well over £100 a night they get better - I don't know. But I've stayed in several around the £100 a night mark and wouldn't willingly return to any of them.
Be wild and open minded. Try to come during the weekend, prepare yourself for lots of partying Don't be put off by the cold winter, the beach is just as lovely... also the hotel prices are considerably cheaper during the offseason. Brighton is vegetarian friendly and offers a great range of restaurants and take aways. so keep an open mind and experiment! Make sure to check out the royal pavilion at night.. the lighting recreates it allover again!

After checking in, we went upstairs to our room which was stylish, modern and quite sophisticated. Spotless clean and had a lovely finishing to it. Even the back view wasn't bad at all, as we were able to see the lovely festive lights glowing from the distance. I loved the modern lights switch, which allows you to adjust the strengh of the lights (perfect for creating that spa, relaxed atmosphere while you soak in the jaccuzi, Their bed mattress was absolutley spot on, as we had a very good night sleep, and woke up with a smile and refreshed looking eyes to prove it!
We were also impressed by the mini bar, and the champagne bucket by the bath, a touch that - sadly - many similarly priced hotels seem to overlook.
Even for the non drinkers amongst the guests, who happen to have a sweet tooth like myself, there is a nice treat for you; Cadbury hot chocolate sachets! Most hotels stop at offering tea and coffee.. some milk and biscuit if lucky! But not this special hotel.
The breakfast was payed for separately, which is fair enough, as some people wouldn't like a fully cooked breakfast (£6), while others would.. so I suppose it's not fair to pay the same price, in which ways, we didn't mind to pay, as the breakfast was lovely.
Though the lift and the corridors weren't as modern looking as the room we've stayed in, It was clean and in a very good condition. The fact that there is always someone available to talk to in the reception, gave us the sense of professionalism on their part and was an obvious sign of good management skills and organszation on their behalf.
Also, when you compare it with close hotels, that have no sea view, yet ask for a tenner less.. you realize that the New Madeira hotel is a true value for your money.
