Huh? Five star reviews?
from The_Truffles
I found myself in another tired, dated hotel with dodgy flooring, every third bulb blown in the corridor, over-priced rooms, indifferent front-of-house staff and cheap guest toiletries.
It can only mean one thing - I was staying in another Hilton Hotel.
What on earth happened? Hilton used to be a quality chain. Now, they simply seem to be synonymous with poor quality establishments that have the front to market themselves as a Premium brand.
Sorry, but any hotel where they actually water down the Molton Brown hand-wash in the bathrooms to make it go further surely merits a very wide berth.
The location is great - but, for the same amount of cash, I'd stay in the Grand 100m down the road.

Great Stay
from kiwiboyLondon
Recently stayed the weekend here and was a little unsure what to expect. Got a great price for the stay (£55 a night) and assumed this was going to mean a room in the basement.
Instead I was pleasantly surprised by a large tidy room with all the luxuries you could expect (apart from a view of the sea but for the price I wan't expecting one). Staff were helpful and couteous and the pool/health centre in the basement was excellent.
Best of all the hotel has the real look of a "Hilton", with a grand entrance way and dining rooms. This in itself was worth the £55.
Overall a great place to stay if you can get one of their cheap weekend deals.

Love Brighton, Love the Metripole

Ok, so the room we had wasn't any better than you'd find at a fraction of the price, but everything else was superb. Service was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Also, superb location, right in the centre of things. Would definitely stay here again.
Top rate staff and facilities - would book again

One of the best hotels I have stayed in in the UK. Courteous professional staff.Excellent facilities and comfortable rooms. Superb breakfast - particularly the whisky porridge!
Avoid at all costs...

We paid £200 per night for a suite and it was terrible. The room was old, small and had mould all in the bathroom. The service was even worse and house keeping would get very upset if you were not out of your room by the time they came round. There was only one lift working in the hotel, so being on the sixth floor meant a long walk or 20 minute wait for the lift. I couldnt tell you one good thing about this hotel, apart from leaving it. If the choice is between sleeping on the beach or the metropole, sleep on the beach.
Great location, tatty interior!

Stayed here for a weekend with my partner (paid £59 per night thro the web, great price!) The room on the first night was large and modern but the bathroom was absolutely awful. We refused to use it in the morning till our room was changed (cost £50 extra for a decent bathroom with a sea view). Service was good and friendly.
The second room was great but wish we had paid the exta £20 when booking. The common areas in the hotel were very dated but we enjoyed the retro-lounge bar. Overall, it is probably the best location in Brighton but needs some work to bring the Hotel up to the standards Hilton normally aspire to. May stay again dependant on price.

nice hotel
from Bigtravel
Arrived at the hotel three hours early, expecting neither of rooms to ready. We just wanted to leave our bags behind reception until check in time so we could go and explore the town.
My friends room was ready, so we just dumped our luggage in his room and went off. By the time we got back my room was all set up. Both rooms were large, with big comfortable beds and extra pillows stored away if you need them. Plenty of everything you need in the room, toiletries, towls, slippers, etc.
Make sure your room dosn't end with anything between 50 and 77. These rooms have horrible views, and is a long walk. Room service prices are steep and the food unintersting, apart from these the hotel was great.
Do take a minute to have a look around the lobby, the unusual chairs and the grand staircases are something to look at.

Loved it!

We've just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. Our room was simply perfect and we paid just £70 for the night. The room was very large and clean with TV, huge bed, wardrobes and Tea/coffee facilties. The deco was very modern, almost boutique in its style. All-in-all a lovely hotel, we didn't have breakfast there as we thought it was a little steep at £15.50 a head, so can't coment on the food and the pool is only 14 metres long, but nice just the same.
Would deffiately stay there again.

great location and wonderful staff
from Germanontour
Stayed 2 nights over easter in the Hilton Metropole. The location can't be better, there is just the road between the hotel and the beach. Our seaview executive room had 3 windows facing the seaside and offered everything you expect from a Hilton Hotel. The hotel itself might need an update here and there, but the very charming staff made the place still very warm and welcoming. Reception, concierge, bellstaff and the waiters in the restaurant were all very helpful, friendly and a professional. Tip: make sure, that you book a room with seaview - nothing is better than listening to the sea and the endless view over it.
Best Hilton in Brighton

Moved to this hotel after we walked out of the Hilton West Pier.
We had 3 rooms all of which where large and spacious. We got upgraded to larger rooms. The rooms where large and clean. Bathrooms could do with some renovation and the rooms could do with a bit more furniture (at least in the large rooms).
We used the bar a couple of times and found it to be ok. On the first occasion the service was a bit slow and we had to ask for our drinks a couple of times.
Breakfast was not that organised. Things on the buffet ran out and where slow to be replaced. We had to ask for coffee and orange juice.
Overall the room was nice and service was not bad. Check in and out was quick and easy.

Top Local Tips for Brighton
Here's a fantastic tip!! Do not be tempted to book, go somewhere else!! and taxis are expensive. For diner book Terre Terre or ginger man.
If I had the money I would stay anywhere other than the Hilton
Town centre shops dead by 6pm If you want any High Street shopping (a cheap sandwich or some hair gel) then be warned that Western Street shuts down by 6pm. We got stuck looking for a chemist to get some plasters for my daughter's hurt finger at 6.45pm
