Historical Traveller Reviews of Brighton White House Hotel
Trip Advisor reviews of the White House were generally accurate - it is nicely looked after, the owners were nice, the breakfast was good, the other people staying were quiet and we did have a small chunk of seaview from our room. A bit of schlepp from the station, but the 37 bus takes you pretty close.
Problem number 1 was the bed. We had walked over six miles along the seafront that day and I could have slept anywhere - or so I thought! Our room contained a squeaky new four poster bed that looked quite inviting, but had a mattress that was harder than the floor (as we found out when we gave up on the bed altogether at 3am).
Problem number 2 was the plumbing. After an awful night's sleep, we were looking forward to a nice shower to try and wake us up a bit. Alas, no. The plumbing is linked up to the toilet next to us, which was in use a lot and which caused the water to go boiling hot without warning and then completely cold, so standing under the showerhead for more than a couple of minutes was impossible.
I don't know what the other rooms were like, but these two things really marred the stay for us and we won't be returning.
Small, but adequatefrom A TripAdvisor Member
Tight Squeeze!!!!from A TripAdvisor Member
The rooms were tiny, and I'd suggest that they would only sleep 1 person comfortably. There was a small double bed, but room only enough to walk to the bathroom and that was it - the bathrooms were minute. It was impossible for two people to be in the rooms at one time - our partners had to change in the hall when we were getting ready to out!
The positives were that the rooms were clean, fresh and the breakfasts were great. The location of the hotel was excellent too. I'm sure there were much better rooms, so I would advise if there are two of you, that you hold out for one of those or be prepared for a very tight squeeze!!

Considering the cheapest room in this area is around £60 per night, I found it very reasonably priced considering it is right on the sea and in Brighton.
It makes such a nice change to find a B&B on the seaside that is modern and clean and didn't make me feel uneasy about sleeping in the sheets or about what I was going to find in my breakfast! Normally B&B's and hotels at the seaside tend to be old, dingy and smelly!
I found the standard of cleanliness very high indeed and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and didn't have to worry about how many times the sausages had been reheated!
I have only stayed here once but plan to stay there again, whenever I visit Brighton in the future. The couple running the place were very friendly. The rooms were slightly small but I would rather have a smaller, clean, bright and airy room as opposed to a large, grotty, smelly one!
I would recommend this hotel/b&b to anyone visiting Brighton!
Worth the money!from A TripAdvisor Member
It's a welcoming and bright B&B with really comfortable beds and beautiful decor, the weather was great so I really enjoyed sitting in there front garden area with there 2 chubby but adorable cats!
Breakfasts were great well needed after a night out with a varied menu to suit everyone.
See you next year Guys x x x

Nice breakfast but very small roomfrom WaltR
The room overlooked rooms in other houses across the street and with there being no net curtains you needed the blinds down to get changed. The shower cubicle was so small that I kept knocking myself against the temperature control with the result that I either had cold water or water that was much too hot.
Whilst the breakfast was fine and the choice excellent it wasn't particularly better than others elsewhere. Parking was not a major problem but could have been better.
t recommend a better place to stay!from Just_A_Girl77
After arriving at the B&B (after a VERY long drive) we were immediately welcomed by a friendly face who directed us to where we easily found a parking space and then proceeded to carry our bags up to our fantastic room which had a lovely sea view. Both our room and bathroom were very spacious and elegantly decorated (and put our décor at home to shame!). Awaiting us in the room were complimentary chocolate bars, which were very much appreciated!!
The breakfasts were equally yummy, offered plenty of choice and were definitely something to look forward to getting up for.
The B&B is in a great location and is only a few minutes stroll from all the local attractions, bars, restaurants and The Lanes.
Sean and Kathryn could not have been more helpful or friendly, and whilst they were very professional, it felt more like staying with friends. We couldn't recommend a better place to stay in Brighton, and look forward to returning next year!

Smallest rooms in Englandfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Trying to put this behind us, we tried to settle in, but found our room to be so small that only one person could comfortably fit in the room at a time while unpacking. The furniture is so small and low that we felt like giants. The shower was so small that I hit my elbows every time I moved. Also due to the lack of ventilation and cooling, we had to leave our window open, which meant we heard every passerby, every car, every motorcycle as well as a mother seagull who had nested directly across the street from our window. The best part of The White House is their breakfast which is fabulous, especially their salmon and egg. Plus they did carry our luggage up to our rooms which was on the top floor. During our whole trip throughout England this was the worst experience we had as most B&B's were more than inviting and comfortable.
Fantastic - will be backfrom JazG!

Luxury Veggie Dining Try Terre a Terre for a real veggie treat. Portions are big so if you like variety then ask for the Tapas dish as a main course (you'll struggle to finish it). Start with the olives or Tofu. A real treat.
