I have stayed at this hotel on a number of visits to Brighton over the last year. The hotel is located in the Centre of Brighton on North St, with the Church St NCP car park directly behind the hotel, this is where you may park if you are driving as all of the city centre is a hefty pay and display area for on street parking. The NCP is only GBP 8.00 for 24hrs once you get your ticket stamped at the hotel reception. The hotel has 7 floors, with the reception and bar/restaurant on the 1st floor. The hotel is surprising large with over 300 relativley big ensuite rooms. I usual opt for a twin room for single occupancy, its very easy to book these and all the rooms are the same price regardless of number of guests/beds etc. A twin room consists of one queen and a single sofa which is simply converted to a comfy bed by housekeeping if required. The rooms are always completely spotless, and the bathrooms look like brand new, the hotel is about 10 years old or so now, but extremly well maintained, with a number of recent refurbishmnets to the rooms, public area's and a dramatic improvement last summer to the 'Bar Est' lounge, it now includes a Costa Coffee, with internet stations and wall mounted flat screen tv's. There is a large restuarant area which serves a really good buffet breakfast , which you can book on check-in or just walk in . I'm not sure if it serves lunch , but I have noticed people eating there at night although I haven't sampled the evening menu.(Too many great places to eat in Brighton). The hotel staff are very attentive and welcoming, altough the reception area can get a little busy in the late afternoon with lots of arrivals, but i have noticed that there will usually be 3 receptionists checking in guests at this time, and another couple on hand to deal with other enquiries, answering the telephone etc. So check-in is usual quite swift, although I did get stuck behind a group booking who had not pre-paid or registered all thier names before arrival, so there was a 20 minute wait as while all 3 receptionist worked very quickly to get the rowdy crowd to there rooms. It would have been alot quicker if the group where listening to one word the staff where saying, rather than having to repeat themselves over the laugher and joking . (i think it was a stag party). The staff are generally Brightonians , and very knowledgeable of the city, on my 1st stay , I called for directions on route to the hotel , and recieved precise details from the London road, even down to the number of traffic lights I would be passing, mention a landmark and he could visualise where I was exactly. For GB 60.00 a night or GB 65.00 at weekends , you get a great size room with TV , Telephone, hairdryer, kettle ,tea & coffee, nice furnishings and excellent bed, with black out curtains, iron's and boards are available from reception, good towels , a great shower and bath. And the hotel also has some great security in place , with guests having to use their key card to acccess the entrance (at night) the lift, the guestfloor corridors and the room, you couldn't feel more secure along with the 24hr reception. And to top it all they have a 'good night guarantee' where if you are not completely happy with your nights sleep, they'll give you your money back!! All in all I don't think I'll ever have to utilise that facilty , its a great hotel , the gem of Brighton.
