Overall not a terrible experience but I have to say, I expected better for almost £70 a night, especially considering it was off-season (October, and NOT during the half-term holiday) and it was b&b only. Good points:- The room was a reasonable size and the bed was very comfortable, and it had a reasonable sea-view from the left side of the bay-window. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice and good food. Bad points:- minor details, not much in themselves, together made it a bit disappointing. The room initially looked clean but I found some old toe-nail clippings behind the headboard of the bed and there was an odd-looking stain on the one of the upholstered chairs which put me off using it. The TV was mounted on the wall opposite the bed but had no remote control, even though it was obviously a remote-control TV, and when I asked for it I was just told "there is no remote control in that room" so I assume the remote was lost/broken and they never bothered to replace it. Not good for the most expensive sea-view double-room they had. The website advertises a "power shower" in the en-suite of each room but this is a joke - the water pressure was so poor it really was a slow dribble and it took ages to wash. The en-suite was very, very cramped with barely room to turn round and the shower-cubicle was tiny. I was asked what time I wanted an alarm-call but didn't receive it on the second day so I missed breakfast (I explained it to the staff but while they made sure they set the alarm-call for the next day in front of me, they didn't apologise or make any offer about the breakfast I missed) and when I ran out of the complimentary shower-gel I had to ask three times and wait two days before any more was provided. The noise insultation is poor - lots of noise from the street and lots from people thumping up and down stairs and banging doors. Worst overall for a gay visitor though - the owner may be gay but the majority of the staff and the guests aren't - it advertises itself quite strongly as a gay venue - I know it's not exclusively gay but I only met one other gay guest during my stay - and the straight guests they had weren't always 100% gay-friendly as I found out from the conversation in the hotel bar which made me feel quite uncomfortable. Even the gay discount card scheme which gives you discounts in various venues wasn't ready when I arrived as promised and I had to ask for it again after a couple of days, and then it wasn't valid in most places on weekends, so I missed out on most of the discounts. Really this is a fairly standard b&b which I think gives the impression it's more of a "gay venue" than it really is to the "gay market" but is really mainly a straight clientele.
