Historical Traveller Reviews of Hilton Bracknell Hotel

Never Again.

from Luna_2401
I stayed there during a business trip. I have stayed in so many hotels in my life but by far this was the worst hotel ever. Its filthy, smells and falling apart. Bathrooms are in a bad shape and the furniture is old and worn out. Worst part is that I paid a "Hilton price" but I never got a "Hilton Service". I highly REGRET having to stay there for a total of 11 nights, what a total waste of money. Truth be told though, there's ONE good thing about the hotel and that is its friendly staff.

very good

stayed for one night last weekend. Booked a family room online for £54 - no breakfast!
The room was fine for a family of 4. My boys slept on the sofa bed which was perfectly acceptable. Could have done with a few more pillows but as we were so tired we didnt bother equesting any. also ,as it was booked as a family room we expected to have at least 4 cups for drinks instad of the usual 2.
Used the pool in the morning. accommodating staff, clean facilities, very good.
used Sainsburys across the road for breakfast - they have a Starbucks there....

Overall, was very satisfied with the hotel

Very Good

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at Hilton Bracknell a while back for 3 nights and overall it was a very good hotel. We had a long journey to travel there but it was very easy to find and had no complaints. The leisure facilities (swimming pool, sauna) were fantastic and we spent a lot of time in there. Food in the restaurant, to be honest, was average; it was nothing special but still OK for what it was. Breakfast was lovely and there was a wide range of choice. The only bad part about our stay there is we forgot to book the time for our evening meal and that same night, a coach-load of people were arriving and we didn't get dinner till late.

All-in-all the staff were very friendly and I would reccomend the hotel if you were travelling for a short stay!

Cheap overnighter

from AFrequentTraveller
Spotted some very low rates for the Bracknell Hilton so decided to check it out - our rate was £54 for a double room which was upgraded to a deluxe double. Worth noting that car parking is also free here.

The hotel is a typical Hilton design with small public areas and an average Living Well. Reception staff were very efficient and friendly. The room was a bit of a dump - lots of space and a large bathroom with separate shower and bath but everything looked a bit tired. The carpet was vert worn and full of holes.

Didn't eat there as Hiton food IMHO is never that great but the bar was well staffed and not too expensive.

Particularly appreciated the 6AM Fire Alarm wake up call on a Sunday morning!

A dump - avoid

What can you say bout this place, radiator obviously just ripped off the wall and replaced with a fan heater. Filthy room, toe nail clippings still on the floor. Shoddy and dirty wallpaper.

Overall a disgusting place. I travel a lot and stay in hotels most weeks and can honestly say that this was probably one of the worst I have stayed in, especially for the rate they charge. Avoid

Mr Parker

from A TripAdvisor Member
Haing viewed the previous reviews I was a little unsure of what to expect (a real mixed bag), however it seems that Mr Parker the young manager really seems to have the place sorted out with smart and friendly staff and very good standards.
When I talked to him I was surprised how young he was, some of his team also told me that he had won an industry award for being one of the best young managers and I can see why.
I shall follow his career with interest!

Cheap w/end

from marie-claire
Having read the reviews having already booked I was a little apprehensive as to what the w/end was to be like. Although the rooms are a little on the tiny side the bed linen is very clean, towels are fresh and clean and changed daily. We found all the staff we came across to be very helpful and friendly. The pool, sauna etc. well worth a visit. It is vey well situated to visit Windsor and surrounding areas.

Much better than I was expecting

Many good points but a few bad ones. I’ll do it in order.

Booking was straight forward through the web site. We booked a family non smoking room with a double bed and double sofa bed. We booked on the weekend offer – 2 nights B&B + first night dinner for £119. A good price. We only wanted the hotel as a base for Legoland but we did want somewhere clean with decent facilities. Booking confirmation came up that we’d booked a smoking room. My son has a serious lung condition so that was totally unsuitable. A quick email to Hilton sorted that out and we were promised a non smoking room.

On arrival we went to the Hilton Honours check in desk (loyalty scheme). I joined once, but have no points. However, you get a free morning paper if you use your card! Check-in was smooth. The room was very nice although a little small. The main problem was the sofa bed. This folded out to make 2 singles, next to each other. Since my kids are both 2 this wasn’t really going to work. They would have both fallen out!

We went back to reception and they promised so sort out a different room. This took about 20 minutes so we tried the Sainsburys over the road for a snack. Avoid the hotel snacks unless you’re on expenses. Very expensive!

Back at the new room, we found that we’d been upgraded to an executive room. This was larger than the standard, with a nicer bathroom, fridge, 6 foot bed, mineral water, bathrobes etc. It also had a sofa bed that opened out to make a double bed. However, the sofa bed was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever laid on. It definitely needed replacing. The big problem with this room was the dreadful smell out in the corridor. It smelt like varnish but nobody knew what it was. The general manager came up to smell, a cleaner was dispatched to mask it with air freshener and we tried for a different room. Lovely as this room was, the smell would seriously harm my son’s lungs. The replacement room that they found was……the one that we started in! We settled on the upgraded room and they opened plenty of windows and fire doors and the smell was gone in a couple of hours. We took the chance to take the kids swimming. The leisure club was very nice although the water was quite chilly. The jacuzzi was the same temp.

We’d arranged for dinner at 6.30 as it was the earliest time and the kids wouldn’t last out any longer. At 6.25 we went into the restaurant to be told that they didn’t open until 7pm. After standing our ground we were told that they would seat us at 6.45. Dinner was OK but nothing special. Carvery, with cold starter buffet and small selection of deserts. Kids food was standard fish finger and chips type meals. Meal was included in the room rate so we made sure that we got our money’s worth! Beware the drinks. Pint of Boddies - £3. Small Coke - £2.20!!!!!

Overall, the hotel is a decent businessmen in the week/families at the weekend sort of place. It’s clean, close to Legoland and has a pool. For the price we paid, it’s a bargain. There were a few small niggles. Some of their staff need to brush up on opening times. I arrived at the pool after it had shut, because Reception gave me the wrong hours. The papers didn’t arrive on the Sunday morning. They charged for my children’s breakfasts when they should have been free. These were quickly sorted out and wouldn’t put me off staying there again. The executive rooms in the new wing are nicer than the standard and are worth the extra (or try to blag an upgrade!) Some of the staff were brilliant. A decent hotel.

Worst Hotel Ever

from donbyron
This has to be one of the worst family hotels that I have ever stayed at. We had a family room (one double and 2 sofa beds) the sofa beds were broken and you could feel the springs through them, hense the kids ended up in our bed and we got no sleep at all. The walls a wafer thin and you can hear the people in the rooms either side. You only get one pillow each, which were so thin. The rooms are also very hot with no aircon; but they do give you a fan which is very noisy. Could not fault the breakfast, it was hot and a good selection. Would not recommend this hotel to families, try a Sheraton they always please.

much improved

I recently stayed at the Hilton Bracknell for the first time in two years after a previous bad experience, however I can strongly say that the hotel is now greatly improved. The restaurant staff were superb as were the rest of the team along with the food and the general effeciency.
The bedrooms were extremely clean and well maintained and completely the opposite of what I had previously experienced.
Would definately recommend
