I stayed four nights whilst at Conference. My room was clean but simply furnished,it had a TV but no remote control. Sheets instead of duvet but with a window box of geraniums! The bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water and towels replenished when needed. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient and the breakfast hot and served promptly. Yes, they are still refurbishing the lounge area so not really in use - but the lovely garden makes up for it. I would stay again!

You walk in and the reception desk looks like a work-bench, the guy behind the desk is wearing jeans and t-shirt, and the smell is awful. The bed room was acceptable, but little things like a remote for the tv and drawers were lacking. There were cigarette burns in the carpet and again a nasty smell. I would expect more for £45. Breakfast was cold, and wiping over the paper tablecloths instead of replacing them just isn't acceptable- needless to say there were several stains on our tablecloth. There was rarely anyone on reception, so to check out you simply put your key in a hole in the desk! I appreciate they were renovating during my stay, but then the price should reflect that and didn't.

I had a lovely relaxing time at The Grove. The price was reasonable at £30 per person for B&B. The location of the Hotel is ideal, as the town centre is only five minutes walk away. All in all very good for the price

This is not the worst hotel I have ever been too with my family. The food was O.K and the service was average. I would not go there again with family but maybe on business. It can do its job as a Bed & Breakfast

This place was absouloutely rubbish from when you turn in it gives a cottagey feel however there was scaffolding outside which had not been published. All I wanted was a B&B but there was a rt it was untidy, smelt horrible and the chefs (if thats what you can call them) can't cook. I would certainly not recommend this to anybody. If I were them I would close it down and start from scratch.

Worst hotel ever

I was originally booked into the Russell Court Hotel, on arriving we were told that due to them being busy because of the good weather that we would be staying at the Grove hotel, 1st impressions of the Grove from the outside was dirty and scabby with scaffolding all arround it, as was the inside, with fag burns on the dirty carpet and some sort of brown gunk in the kettle(so no hot drinks). Staff are all miserable but the breakfast was ok. Would not reccommend this hotel at all. rather sleep on the beach.

Dirty, broken and wouldn't return

My boyfriend and I booked late for an overnight stay in Bournemouth. Our old reliable B&B was booked up so I looked around. Came across The Grove Hotel for £35 pppn. It said it would be a country house type place - I didn't expect that much for £70 but was interested to see whether they could achieve that for this rate. We arrived on saturday and there was scaffolding all over the building - that can't be helped but it would have been nice to have been warned when I booked. The carpets were hideous but more importantly dirty. They were cleaning when we arrived but not doing a great job of it. E.g. they had paper covers on the tables but cleaned them over and over with spray rather than throwing them away and getting new ones. They would have been better with cotton cloths. The welcome was basically fill out the form and drop the key in the hole in the desk when you leave. They already had my money - it was a full deposit when I booked (I should have suspected something then)so they didn't bother with the nicities. It was very basic, the room looked absolutely nothing like the brochure. Again it felt very dirty, I didn't have tea as the cups were filthy. The pillow smelt of curry and we couldn't open our windows fully due to the scaffolding. The TV had no remote and was very basic, the side tables were made out of MDF and the kettle had to boil on the floor as the lead didn't reach the table. There was no bin and the shower didn't work, it leaked from the base all over the bathroom and was cold. The rooms were also noisey, creaking came from all areas and we were woken up regularly during the night. The breakfast was horrible, my porridge was like gluten and tasteless. Two positives: 1) The East Asian staff were pleasant 2) We spent a lot of time out of the hotel enjoying bournemouth because we couldn't face being in it.

Stayed here a while back and whilst the room was clean and tidy the service was not that great and looks pretty scabby from the outside.
