Absolutely Fabulous
from A TripAdvisor MemberFrom the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and when we were shown up to our room we could not quite believe it. It was like one of those historic bedrooms in hampton court. There was a flower on the pillow and some choclates for my birthday. The four poster bed needed a special step for those not in the mood to jump up. We snuggled up next to the fire in our dressing gowns. It was just perfect. So romantic.
We had waiters serve us dinner at the dining table in the room - the food was excellent- we felt like a prince and his mistress. It wasn't like staying in a hotel at all - it was more like being a visitor is a historic home.
The next day our friends joined us and we had dinner in the Restaurant. The room is something else with massive stained glass windows a minstrells gallery and a walk in fireplace. We went to the Edwardian banquet which was quite an experience with six courses displayed by waitresses in costume.
I will certainly return and would like to thank all the staff for making my 40th such a memorable occasion - I will never forget it.
Best in England
from EclipsecatNone were available but I was offered a superior four poster with jacuzzi in their adjacent lodge.
The price was £140.00 B+B which I thought too expensive at first but phoned later to book.
How wrong I would have been to have missed this opportunity!
On arrival we were shown to our lovely room by one of the managers, everyone was vvery friendly and helpful and wine and olives we had requested were waiting for us.
We booked for dinner in their delightful restaurant where the food and sevice were exceptional. We had five courses with wine, water and coffee and the bill the next morning came to only £100.00 (including two bottles of wine and the olives in our room).
I would have happily paid double and we will definitely be returning.

from bigfatbubbleFriday Night - Romantic Dinner for two just in front of the open fire on a cold January evening - amazing.
Saturday Night - 6 Courses at the Edwardian Feast, I would recommend not eating during the day, as you will struggle to finish all the courses.
The only down fall was the price, I did feel it was quite expensive.
But all in all a very nice and relaxing weekend.
Faded Opulence
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe hotel is trading too much on it's history and is in need of a deep clean, a good lick of paint & varnish in the short term and a major refurbishment in the longer term.
Rooms are very small for the price and bar service cannot possibly justify the high cost of drinks.
The food for a wedding breakfast was just about OK but the evening food left a lot to be desired and there was no clearing away of dirty plates.
That said, the staff are very friendly, in particular the Head Waiter who is exceptional.
Fantastic food!
from A TripAdvisor MemberOur room was lovely too apart from a few hairs in the spa bath!
As it was our annivesary, we had a rose and some chocolates waiting for us in bed, which was a really sweet thought. Then at the banquet, the chef made us 2 swan meringues, it was really cute and made us feel very special.
I would defiantly recommend this hotel and you should defiantly stay for dinner, the chef is excellent! worth every penny!

A wonderful hotel in every way
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat place
from A TripAdvisor MemberIf you want a quiet room, ask for a room in the lodge. Although the wardrobe was a little dusty we thought the room was lovely. The Edwardian buffet on Saturday night is very enjoyable. The hotel is within easy walking distance of both the train station and a lovely stretch of beach away from the crowds nearer Bournemouth pier.
Excellent receptionist

Walks Make sure you take some compfortable shoes as there are lots of beautiful walks around the place
excellent beaches and many superb restaurants. Visit nearby Christchurch for the Priory and the excellent Captains Club Hotel for fine dining. walk a few hundred yards from the Langtry manor hotel to the Zig Zag beach path for excellent views. Visit the Print room restaurant for brasserie food with a modern twist or the Cafe Shore on the seafront at Sandbanks for a touch of glamour
Bournemouth Beach A must see if you like the water. I was there in May a little cold, but had one good day and was able to stat the tanning season. I was told that between July and September are the best times. Lots of sand and blue water.
