We complained but as no other family room was available we had to make do for 1 night in a normal room (they had to bring in another bed). We were then given another family room the next morning. This was a lot better than the original room, but this too had damp patches in the ceilings in the bedroom and the bathroom but at least the bathroom itself was in a relatively good state of repair. But this was room no 3 in the space of 24 hours of being there.
My parents room on the surface seemed OK. However my father went to take a shower the day after we arrived, opened the shower door and the smell of the drains was overpowering and there was black stuff on the bottom of the shower tray. They too had to complain and they were also moved to another room. In the new room the bath panel was also hanging off and tiles were missing on the wall.
My sister and her family arrived a couple of days later and I made sure I checked her room out before they arrived. I have to say her room was the best with nothing wrong with it at all (number 14). If only all the rooms were of that standard!
The food for breakfast was very good as were the bar snacks (we were Bed and Breakfast). Bar snacks were served at lunchtime and in the evening ranging from the usual jacket potatoes, sandwiches etc to steak chips and gammon chips all of which was lovely and very reasonably priced.
The views from the gardens of the sea are also very nice and the location is also good.
All in all we wont be going back to Cottonwood Hotel again. For the amount of money the holiday cost it wasn't value for money and it would have been cheaper to go abroad.
