I had heard good things about this country hotel and I wasn't disappointed. As soon as the car stopped there was someone waiting to take the luggage. Check in was smooth and fast. The room was luxurious complete with robes, fresh fruit and fresh coffee rather than the instant variety. The bath was huge and was well stocked with lovely smelling goodies. Pre dinner was spent in a lovely open fired lounge, of which there are many, champagne by the glass and canapes were served. Dinner in the Burlington Restaurant was wonderful, lots of small courses folowed by coffee and hand made petit fours taken in another lounge. The wine list is extensive with around 2500 bins. Breakfast was faultless and the staff throughout the stay were so attentive, friendly and helpful.
This lovely hotel had a country manor feel and it was like going back in time. I half expected Miss Marple to be sat in one of the lounges eating scones and drinking tea.
The walks around this hotel are lovely and of differ in length for all abilities. The staff in the spa were lovely and had a pool plus a few treatment rooms...back massage recommended. This hotel is fantastic for a weekend retreat or romantic get away.

Top Local Tips for Bolton Abbey

Walking Walk up to Appletreewick from Bolton Abbey pavilion. About 11 miles round trip. Great scenery and fairly easy walking. Stop for pub lunch half way.

Bolton Abbey Estate As well as nearby Skipton - small, Yorkshire market town, well worth a visit with plenty of friendly pubs and restaurants, a little further afield is Harrogate, a much larger town with an historic past but lots of modern shops, restaurants, bars and its famous "Betty's Tea Rooms". Allow some time - perhaps an entire day, to explore the Devonshire Arms Estate and the walks - some suitable for wheelchair users - along the River Wharfe and in the surrounding countryside of the Yorkshire Dales.
