| Awful bed - Lumpy Mattress |
| I've travelled all over the world and just started visiting different areas of the uk. Marlow lodge was my 3rd experience of a B&B and sadly it lived up to all my fears! We booked online & could find no reviews. It started badly, as it smelt of Dog when you walked into the Hotel. But our own room did not smell. The room allocated was tiny, although presented in a clean and fresh manner. The furniture was white melamine, looked homemade by a DIY enthusiast! But the worst was yet to come! The BED. How anyone could call it a bed and charge money to sleep on it is beyond me. As you looked at the bed you could see the dips and rises, when you sat on it the mattress collapsed to nothing! Further inspection of the bed showed that the base underneath had collapsed on one side, offering no support to the mattress whatsoever. We had the most horrendous nights sleep ever at Marlow Lodge & that was only after putting a spare duvet under the mattress along with a cushion from the chair! But it was still mightily uncomfortable. I think we only slept through sheer exhaustion & thats was due to the 4 hour drive. I did at some stage in the night sleep much better - when I PUT THE DUVET ON THE FLOOR & SLEPT THERE! Whilst trying to make the bed comfortable I had obviously to lift the mattress and noted that it looked to be about 30 years old, red and dirty, made me feel quite ill.
The landlady Kath asked us about the bed next morning at breakfast and we were truthful with her. She offered some strong cardboard to go under the bed! And said no one had complained before!
In Addition to the above, the Tea & coffee making facilities were a health & safety nightmare, kettle far too big for shelf! And the Sugar sachets looked like they had been removed from another establishment. Lovely views from the room - of the rubbish bins. In the ensuite, the lino was badly laid, a loose piece 'plonked' on top of the rest to make it look as if it fitted. Lino also has a big stain. Someone could not spell Environment - INVIRONMENT. Cheap Melamine furniture, peeling away on wardrobe.
Well you live and learn. We had a fantastic stay recently at a B&B in Cornwall, Penrose in Lostwithiel, we were there about 2 weeks ago & we loved every minute even though the weather was not great! I wanted to stay longer. Unfortunately at Marlow lodge Blackpool We couldn't wait to leave! |
