Big Dissapointment
from Gill247My room was quite shabby and looked like it had not been done up since the hotel was built. Old fashioned decor and furnishings and a grotty looking bathroom.
The bathroom looked dirty but I think this was due to the cracks in the porcelean etc. There was also a foul smell coming from the sink and bath drains.
The restuarant was not any better. When we went for dinner we were not given the choice between Carvery or A La Carte. The Carvery had a large selection but the food was overdone (or over heated under the lights). The main course choice was various meat or fish dishes with no chicken. One of the things I had was a Yorkshire Pudding which was so hard it was impossible to cut with a knife.
The waiters were very pushy and provided us with our bill whilst we were eating dessert. He then came back to our table 4 times to ask if we were ready to pay. Once we had paid we waited 10 mins for our receipt and then the waiter proceeded to count his tip in front of us.
I will not be staying at this hotel again as I feel their are better hotels in Blackpool that are cheaper and provide a better service.
s poor relation
from A TripAdvisor MemberIt looks OK from the outside but is in dire need of renovation inside, particularly the bedrooms.
Staff were generally very polite and understanding but not particularly effective.
Felt more like a cheap motel than a Hilton. Shame it wasn't priced or described as such.
Honest opinion
from A TripAdvisor MemberStaff, on the whole, are very friendly with some absolute gems in their ranks!
Rooms are small, but the newly refurbished rooms and suites are to an exceptionally high standard.
Gym is rather small but clean and well maintained.
Pool is decent enough but can get very busy during leisure season.
Conference and Banqueting facilities are extensive and the C&B team are flexible and well trained
Restaurant breakfast has the best selection of foods in any hotel chain in the UK - guaranteed
Dinner offers choice of inclusive carvery or a 3 course a la carte for around £9 supplement. It's honestly the best carvery in the area, and one of the best a la carte menus (although heavily influenced by Mediterranean cuisine rather than local produce)
The one major question to ask when booking (best to book during office hours and so via the hotel rather than Hilton Central Reservations) is if there are any large conferences in the hotel during your stay. This can be an exceptionally busy hotel during conference and holiday periods, but equally ideal for a reasonably quiet weekend break during less busy periods.
I recently stayed here, having previously worked at this hotel in a managerial capacity for a number of years (along with a couple of other prominent hotels in Blackpool) and can honestly say that this is a fair, unbiased and accurate appraisal from someone who has seen the hotel day in day out and received both positive (vast majority) and negative guest comments.
It far surpasses the Imperial (crumbling fabric and unhappy staff) and Big Blue (nice modern hotel but distinct lack of facilities, poor menu, average service and attention to detail by staff - however, amazing what a bit of networking will get you in terms of awards and publicity!!)
Hope this is of use.
Adequate - Imperial was much better!!!!
from Andi_ChambersB
from beefeater34£174 per night for an executive room... tiny, very smokey (despite requesting non-smoking), noisy corridors until 4am and a restaurant which should be located on a service area somewhere on the M6!
In fairness, when I complained on the second day about the smokiness, they did offer to downgrade me to a non-executive, non-smoking room. After a bit more discussion, I was upgraded to a 7th floor suite - yes a suite!
The suite consisted of one bedroom the same size as the executive room albeit with less furniture to give the impression of it being larger! The bathroom was identical too. No lounge, no nothing. Could this really be a Hilton Suite?
The pool was very nice, but not big enough for the 22 people trying to use it.
The lady on the front desk was really quite helpful, but the rest of the stay was poor. I should have listened to TripAdvisors and booked a friendly B&B for £19 a night.
I still just can't believe Hilton puts its name to it.. and then charges 174 quid a night!
Blackpool Hilton
from JayneTThere were several mix ups with rooms (caused by a request made in the days before our arrival for a cot in one of the family rooms). A request for a sea view couldn't apparently be accommodated but our friends who checked in later got a sea view so they were happy.
The staff were helpful, recommending a good place for dinner and arranging taxis for us.
This is really a Hilton?!!
from NixKitzMy room was on the 2nd floor with a view of the North Pier and a car park from the window. Room was relatively small , clean although in need of refurbishment – the bed clothes for example looked quite old. Bathroom was an adequate size and the shower was quite powerful. Sound proofing of the rooms was dire – woke several times in the night/early morning hearing people in the corridors, next door room and above room.
The food was a big disappointment. As part of the conference we had buffet style lunches – the food just wasn’t all that great and they were slow at refilling the tea and coffee flasks. The main evening meal was very bland. Breakfast buffet was ok.
Conference rooms again looked in need of a modern facelift.
Drinks at the bar were usual hotel prices and the bar lacked atmosphere. We went to the in-house disco in the hotel’s basement – atmosphere was ok as full of conference delegates but the music was pretty dire and despite several requests to play certain songs we were ignored all evening. The DJs actually looked to be two schoolboys playing at being serious DJs. I imagine that on most nights the DJS have an empty room in which to play whatever songs they wish.
Oh and what is with the wind/temperature in Blackpool? For July it was decidedly cold!!
Top Local Tips for Blackpool
funny girls get your self to funny girls the staff are all fantastic and the cabaret is amazing especially riverdance.dj zoe really gets everyone in the mood to party and the drinks are really reasonable
Decent Bar Walkabout near the North Pier - nice staff, good door staff, live band, decent music, reasonable price for beer, no trouble. Go on a Thursday night when the locals go out before all the stag and hen do's arrive on the friday!
Pleasure Beach & Night Entertainment Book online before you go you can save so much! I'd also go watch 'Funny Girls' if you have the chance as well because it's fantastic!

Quite clearly Stakis has put little or no money into modernising the rooms in this particular hotel for many a year!
This hotel brings no credit to either its owners or to the great town of Blackpool itself.
It is certainly not worthy of a four star rating.
Why not?
The carpet was old and stained.
The wallpaper was old and tired looking.
The armchair seemed ancient - its fabric was worn and and marked.
The room itself was far too hot. A notice informed us that the temperature could be regulated via a control on the radiator - the control did not work! My wife's cold was not improved by having to keep the window permanently open!
Oh yes,the window.
I requested a room with a sea view. This was rather pointless since the view was obscured by the filth on the outside of the window! These windows cannot have been cleaned for many a long time.
Finally - the 'hot' breakfast.
We arrived for breakfast at 10.30am. After having stayed at other Hilton hotels we were looking forward to it. We hoped that it might compensate in some way for the desperately disappointing room. Sadly this was not to be.
The breakfast was cold. All the items we selected from the 'hot' buffet were cold.
Further the quality of the food items was poor. For example the fried eggs were rubbery and lacking in taste. The sausages were of a poor quality and the bacon was somewhat stringy, fatty and lacking in flavour.
My wife and I were charged an exorbitant £101 for one night's bed and breakfast - the only good thing about this was the fact that we stayed just the one night!
