Me and my family have been going there for the past 10 years. We find it really good, great entertainment, satisfied with the rooms, the facilities are brilliant, the staff are always friendly. Very close to the main attractions (e.g. Pleasure Beach and Sandcastle Water Park). And it is a great value for money.

I found that the hotel was great, the swimming pool was fantastic, we were down every day!
but the one thing that ruined my stay was a group of immature boys staying accross the halls, they even tried to kick our door down, and after we went and explained to the reception and explained what had happened, they said, 'was it really that bad?' which i found apalling. also the fire alarm went off at around 3 in the morning and when we rushed out of our room to see what had happened, it turned out that 2 guests were fighting and had bumped into the alarm and woke the full hotel up. to sum up, great hotel but poor staff and guests.

Miserable dirty death trap

On arrival we had to climb 4 sets of stair cases to get to our floor carrying a large suitcase and 3 bags between 2 of us, the place smelt foisty and looked like it needed a good clean! the staff were all miserable and spoke in a terrible manner, if that wasn't bad enough we was then placed in the wrong flat, the door to the flat was very unsafe and unsecure we hardly left the flat for feeling insecure about our luggage, there were multiple death traps around the room to which my fiancé bruised and scratched his ankles from catching nails and wall boxes sticking out of nowhere (the doorways of all places)! Disgusting stains were left across the living room furniture and the heater was broken so was constantly on! Staff are completely useless, cleaning staff hardly ever did anything!

There is nothing wrong with this hotel in my opinion. I have been going here for years and everytime I go I love it. Ther is a game room, swimming pool, bar, sauna everything u would need. Yes, there are a lot of stairs and sometimes the lift doesn't work but that's the price u pay and I'm willing to walk up a load of stairs. We stay on the 4th floor every year and I wouldn't change anything.

The dining room was ok, smaller than expected - a 2 seata sofa which was most uncomfortable for 2 people to share, the oven didn't work, there was no toaster or microwave.. but it's Blackpool, and no one goes hungry! The bedroom was adequate and the bathroom was decorated well. The lift was awful - hated it, and as positioned on the 4th floor, spent a lot of my time trundling up and down the stairs, quite exhausting! It was very, very small, but there are warnings as to its capabilities, so one knows what to expect.
If staying here again (which I probably will) would pay for the secured parking, as my car door was booted in on the 2nd day whilst parked on the street around the corner, as previously advised by reception staff. Was disappointed that the cafetria remained closed during most of our week here, but some great places nearby to eat.
We enjoyed the entertainment that was on offer in the bar, the dj was over accommodating (even lending me his brolly when out on a walk in a wet windy night) and the bar staff were jolly and fun.
After spending many a break in Blackpool over the last 40 yrs or so, I would recommend here - there may be worse, there may be better.. but we shall return!

I went to the Grand hotel holiday flats with a group of friends. Some of us were 17, some 18. I think we paid around 50 each for the week. When we arrived we were expecting to pay a safety deposit, but we weren't asked for one, which was great.
When we arrived, we had to purchase an electricity card as it's pay by meter. They sell £1 and £5, but unfortunatley only had £5 when we were there. This lasted the whole week, which was good considering we all had hair straighteners and mobile phones to charge every day.
The rooms were okay, tidy enough. Only one point was that the bin hadn't been changed and the fridge was leaking. We also didn't realise and weren't told until we asked that there was a button to turn the hot water on. It's advisable not to leave this on as it uses a lot of electricity, it takes about an hour to heat the water.
We were about a 5 minute walk from the south promenade. The staff in the hotel were friendly enough. The 'snackery' did a lovely breakfast and it was cheap enough.
The bar down stairs was okay, rather expensive and it was dead in their most nights. We also found that the bar staff were quite rude and insisted we showed I.D every time we went to the bar even if they had already seen it 4 times that night.
The swimming pool was nice. There was a tiny shower there so you could have a wash after. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel and it's surroundings. A lot of people have written bad reviews but really it's great accomodation for the cost. It's the only hotel we could find with a heated swimming pool! There was also a small arcade room which was great when there was nothing else to do.
Also if your young and enjoy going out clubbing, ask at the reception for a VIP wristband, it costs £5 and we got lots of discounts out at bars and resturants. .
If I went to Blackpool again, I would stay there again.

Having read the above reviews I am left wondering if this is quite the same place we had spent our holiday. Having just arrived home I can honestly say it is the worst place we ever stayed in. We had booked a family room for eight but it was only equipped for four people. The fridge did not work, it had a sticker on the side saying, UNSAFE, DO NOT USE. INSPECTION FAILED - the cooker did not work AT ALL. The lift was a death trap so we had to climb sixty-five stairs to reach our floor. The bedroom windows did not close. We were told the flat had a shower room, no shower just a dirty bath. There was no toaster or microwave which left us with no cooking facilities at all. We asked at reception to book the solarium but were told it had not been working for two years, We asked politely at the bar if we could have some ice to take up to the room but the barman refused, his excuse was that the ice making machine didn't work properly and only had enough ice to serve drinks in the bar. The reception staff were very unfriendly. We heard another visitor ask for his money back as he couldn't believe the state of his flat and did not want to stay. He was refused. Sadly this depressing place ruined our holiday and I would advise anybody wanting to book into these apartments to beware.
