Worth the Extra!
from A TripAdvisor MemberMy only gripe is that the hotel still insists on serving their light lunch in the cafe next to the [smokey] bar when a perfectly good dining room is sitting there empty - all set up for dinner! Smacks of being run for the convenience of the staff rather than the guests. All the more annoying as it is so simple to fix.
Best Weekend Ever!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe family suite was brilliant, space for mum and dad and a separate area for the kids to sleep, each with their own telly. We brought our own games consoles for them to plug in. The bathroom was beautiful, water hot and wow, what a power shower! Kids kept entertained for a whole ten minutes with the self-closing toilet seat. Granny had a single room which was stunning, loads of room, stylish and comfortable - she didnt want to leave.
Pleasure beach tickets were purchased from reception, again very efficient staff. We are all looking forward very much to coming back.
If i had to say some-thing on the negative, it would be the restaurant. We had evening meal included in our price and there was quite a lot of confusion over which menu we could choose from etc.. However the quality of the food was very good. Sunday morning breakfast was a bit of a bloodbath, everyone in the hotel had come down at the same time which gave us a waiting time of about 45mins, it didnt bother us but there were some angry guests. So if u are there on a sunday get down early!
Anyway to sum up, fantastic place and longing to go back!
Best in Blackpool
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Hotel is probably the best in Blackpool, you only have to drive along the Prom to see how many Flea pits there are available to stay in.
The Hotel is very modern and clean, the Rooms have air con, and there is also a DVD player, I belive games and DVD's are available for hire.
The Hotel has a nice bar and restuarant which isn't to expensive,
The draught beer is german and tastes great.
The hotel is right on the pleasure beach.... so from 10:30 Am till
the park closes the rear hotel rooms are very noisey,
Only other bad thing we noticed was that the Restuarant cannot cope at Breakfast times as there are not enough tables, on both days we waited 40 minutes to be seated. !!!!!!!
The Hotel does have a bit of class, No "Kiss me quick Hats" or Willie shaped rock at this hotel.
It can be a bit expensive at 80 pounds per night but if you like good hotels this is a good one for Blackpool.
The travelinn at south shore is a good alternative and almost half price but its a bit of a walk to the front.
(My two pence worth).....
If you've got Kids go abroad, Blackpool is a dirty hole and expensive.
Amen.
Simply the Best!
from A TripAdvisor MemberA wonderful place to stay
from chrissy-morgan73The rooms are beautiful; clean, with tea and coffee making facilitlies, and good quality biscuits, which are replaced evryday. Towels and bedding are changed every day.
The hotel itself is very tastefully decorated, with a relaxed atmopshere. We spent many pleasent evenings in the hotel bar sipping the wonderfull cocktails. The breakfasts are second to none with a choice of cereals, jucies, crossiants, full cooked english as well as muffins.
I'd recommened the evening meals served within the resturant, with a wide selection of dishes to suit everyone's dietery needs and tastes.
All in all I would say that this hotel is by far the best in Blackpool, go and stay yourself, you will not be disapointed.
Best Hotel in Blackpool
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe used the carvery for Sunday lunch which was excellent value. £9.50 per adult for a three course meal excl drinks. Didn't need anything else to eat all day.
The Big Blue hotel, is the only hotel I have ever stayed in with a stone effect electric fire - amazing!!!
Best Place in the World!!!!!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberI HOPE TO GO BACK A.S.A.P!!!!
Big Blue, just what Blackpool needed

Funny Girls Your in Blakpool ! Go see the funny girls. Especially if your straight! You can go anywhere in the world and never see such a wonderful performance by such dedicated and professional people. I’m gay and I loved it and wisely minded straight people should go to see it too. A REAL TOP TIP: don’t heckle these girls, they are earning far more than you !
Rocco's Italian Restaurant If you're after a romantic dinner or just a good meal that doesn't consist of pub food, head to Rocco's on Clifton Street. We stumbled upon it having been to see Ricky Gervais at the opera house up the road. Absolutley lovely owner and staff - our coats were taken, drinks arrived within seconds, owner came over and introduced himself. We had a lot of banter with them, and enjoyed the food and company so much that hadn't noticed we were still there at 00.45am, when it was upposed to close at 11pm! They insisted we got a taxi as they didn't want us walking in the dark for 45 mins, and ordered a recommended firm which arrived in less than 5 mins. Will def go back again next time i'm in the area. Good food, not expensive. Recommend the marinara, goat cheese crouton and tiramisu.
Blackpool is fun, but..... Despite the fantastic pleasure beach, it is all kiss me quick hats, chips, and lager. If you want something that is less down at heel, then I recommend Lytham St Annes, south of Blackpool.
