Overpriced Travel Lodge

from warren_zevon
Great location for the airport. Reminded me of a tired travel lodge but at premium Hotel prices. Room OK, Staff fine. Laughed at the leisure facilities offered - a pool table.

Perfect for early morning flights

from lettzz
If you want a hotel, where you are opposite the departure lounge then this is the one, it makes early morning flights bearable as from check out to the airport is about 60 seconds walking.

Rooms are large, clean and airy. Very quiet with no noise from the airport.

Best rates are always on the novotel website, the later you leave it the lower the price goes, rack rate is £120+ but if you book online it can come down to £49 for the room.

Breakfast is not included in the cheaper room rates, but with such a choice at the airport this has never been an issue.

Parking is not included in the hotel rate, but this can be booked in advance on the NCP website at a lower rate that if you turn up and pay on the day.

Acceptable although tired

from Gaspari
Stayed 1 night before early flight. Convenient property which was adequate for the night. Fabric of the building is tired, although some attempts have been made to upgrade in a minor way. Foyer and bar quite pleasant and reception staff good. At our discounted £80 per night it was fair value and very convenient - but rack rates are ridiculous!

Search for a deal

Like everyone else, I was looking for an overnight before 7am flight. We were coming by train, but system down on Sunday for repairs so took bus from New Street station to airport rail, airport rail to airport, then cross parking lot to hotel.

Airport has food court and small 24hr grocery so limited alternative to hotel food, though still expensive.

I booked in advance (prepay) through a website that specializes in airport parking and airport hotels at about half the walk in price. Nonsmoking room was large with 2 beds, desk, closet, bath and separate toilet. It was hot and I had to open the double windows to try to cool it off, but basically had to wait until sun went down (maybe get East side?). No airplane noise at all, just constant bus and luggage trolley noise. So, I did close the windows and suffer the reduced heat at night.

Good location but rooms need a facelift - overpriced.

I stayed here one night in June. It was extremely hot and there was no air conditioning. The room was a bit ropey - they need a facelift badly. Service overall was good. Definitely a three star standard but with four star prices - it is rather expensive, but the location is great if you are using the airport.

Not great

from Patch2
Bathroom was dirty when we arrived. We were offerred an alternative room which was a smoking room. We are non-smokers and the smell of smoke was overwhelming. We relunctantly reverted back to the first room after they said that they would clean it. Unfortunately it still wasn't that clean, and it was too late in the night to find an alternative. However, its proximity to the airport is unbeatable

Highly recommended

from Goagirl
We stayed here for one night prior to an early morning flight. The reception staff were utterly charming and when they discovered we were celebrating an anniversary, they gave us a voucher for complimentary drinks at the bar.Our room was excellent, large and clean with a separate seating area and a spotless bathroom. Triple glazing blocked out all airport noise. All staff were friendly and courteous, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Pricey Parking

We stayed over night after spending the day at the Caravan, camping & boat Show at the NEC.
We found the room very clean and liked the fact that the toilet was seperate from the bathroom.
We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was very good if a bit expensive. The breakfast next morning was very good and value for money.
Our main gripe was the fact there is no parking at the Hotel only a airport car park. When we went to pay the next morning we found it was £12.95 for the 18hrs we had parked., this we thought was a very expensive.
We would stay there again .

Very good location for the tired traveller

My decision to stay at the hotel was a lucky last minute one. It was clean, the staff were most helpful, and it was about two hundred paces to Terminal One. If you have an early start this is ideal, and I didn't hear one plane take off or land. Just wish they had provided a simple continental breakfast at a reasonable price, not everyone wants the full english breakfast when they are travelling. I didn't eat there because it was rather expensive. Otherwise I couldn't fault it.

Excellent location, good value.

We landed in Birmingham on the beginning of our trip to Europe.

To overcome the jet lag, we stayed at the Novotel when we landed the 3rd week of June, 2004.
We stayed for 2 nights before flying on to Germany.

The hotel is located literally on the Birmingham airport property, and is a few short steps from the terminal.

Although the walkin rate is 120 British Pounds, if you book this hotel in advance, you can get a real deal. We got a weekend rate of 69 Pounds including the English Buffet Breakfast for 2.
The rate also included all taxes (which are generally very high in the UK).
We found rates of as low as 45 Pounds/night on the Novotel site, for weekend rates well in advance without the breakfast.

We liked that you can push the airport trolley with luggage right to the hotel, and then into the elevator up to (and into) your hotel room!!

The hotel room was quite clean, but found that it required a bit of paint here and there (especially on the toilet wall and door frame).
The toilet is located in a seperate room to the shower/sink area, which is nice when 2 people are staying together .
The room had room controlled heating, but we didn't see any airconditioner controls.
I doubt with the UK climate its necessary though, and just opened the window when we wanted air.

There is a nice pub in the lobby area, as well as a coin-fed internet computer (10p/min)

The resteraunt was clean, but we didn't think the buffet was up to what we were expecting, being used to North American meals. For example, the eggs were sunny side up in a holding area, but after a few min's become very rubbery (they should be on request to be made fresh).
On the positive side, the fruits were very good, and the coffee was fresh (and included in the price).
They had plenty of cereals, and breads.
Considering the buffet has a walkin price of 12.50 British Pounds, we found this to be quite expensive with the present currency exchange rate.

The #900 Bus outside the front door of the hotel (infront of the airport) takes you into the center of the city for 1 Pound (20 min ride).

Price and convinence was #1 for us with this hotel on our trip.
The room was clean, and the staff were professional.

We would definetely stay here again if ever using Birmingham as a stop-over again.
