We have just come back from our night away. Excellent Hotel this is are 2nd time staying there this year. This time two of our friends came with us. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean. The rooms is everything you need. Both times we have had our evening meals there as well both time we have loved it. Breakfast is great value for money. We have been lucky to have rooms looking over the river. It worth going to I'm already planning a trip back. It's all round great value for money and lovely place to stay.

hi to everyone it was my birthday and my husband booked a quite break in north devon, the hotel staff were very attentive, and when i realised i did not have any towels in my bedroom they could not have brought them to me fast enough, the bar area is really nice and the whole ambienance of the hotel reflects the age of the building, i felt as if i was somewhere in the middle of france in a tiny village. enjoyed my stay although i did not sample the evening meal i did have a lovely breakfast.

Had to stay at tantons for a couple of nights and was a bit worried about coming but wow. What a great place, fantastic food (succlent Local steaks)Staff really good and attentive, great room, was lucky to have double even though only booked for a single, bright and airy, clean bedding and great comfortable bed. Will definetly be retuning for a longer trip.

Attentive Staff for a shabby hotel...

The hotel itself is well located with a wonderful view of the river Torridge. Local transport was fantastic with a bus every 10 mins. Bideford is a fairly large place but extremely uphill and steep in most places, you may find nearby Barnstaple better for all your shopping needs and transport links to various places around Devon & Cornwall. We found the traffic to be extremely busy on the main Road in bideford so dont expect a deal of sleep if you get a River view at the hotel as we did. The Tantons needed a thourough clean especially the windows and shower heads and the room in general. the bedding was spotless and i do believe the staff were very attentive to your needs considering there was only 5 of them plus a night porter. The hotels main buisness is coach trips and the food was a joke. our first meal there was breaded plaice accompanied with brussels carrots & roast potatoes. What a contraption..the rooms vary in size ours was adequate apart from the bathroom which was ok if you was a skinny minnilli. next door however was like a penthouse (no 34)with the same view and noise and a bath & shower. entertainment is scarce and expect alot of coffin dodgers as we were the youngest there.. Not a patch on the cornish beaches but devon folk are much kinder and couldn't do enough for you.. enjoy the location but avoid the food and eat elsewhere.

A Lovely Stay

Bedroom was a little small and old fashioned but the rest of the Hotel was nice and modern. Clean, white bedding and clean white towels. Staff very nice and helpful. Food was lovely, waiter lovely and sweet. Everything we expected inc. porter service and entertainment.
