Historical Traveller Reviews of Harington's Hotel

worth a try

from Nell1465
Just spent a Friday and Saturday night in Bath for a rugby / christmas shopping break. Used tripadvisor to find hotel and was very pleased with the mostly accurate reviews.

Hotel in excellent location. Car park very useful and a short walk from hotel. Stayed in room 8 and very pleased with room's character and facilities. Extremely comfy bed and very spacious. Bathroom a little small but in central Bath and a listed building some compromise has to be made.

Choice at breakfast was excellent; fresh produce and attentive service. All hotel staff are very helpful and friendly.

Small but Good

I had to stop in Bath on business, and found this hotel great as a woman travelling alone where sometimes you can feel a little vulnerable. The staff gave a very good service and made me feel very welcome.

The room was tastefully furnished, with good facilities. The hotel is quite central in the centre of Bath and close to the shops and restaurants but I didnt consider it too noisy.

As the hotel is a listed building and this together with to its small size, means there is no lift and therefore the upper floors are reached by staircases, but don't let this put you off this good hotel.

We loved it!

We just got back from spending Saturday and Sunday night over the bank holiday weekend at Haringtons and we loved it. Great location, very nice room (we stayed in feature room 8 which was lovely although the bathroom was tiny, but hey, its an old building!). Staff and service are what made our stay - we couldn't have asked for anything more plus the breakfast was fantastic. If anyone that works there is reading this - thanks for a great stay, I am sure we will be back!! We ate at the Bathtub Bistro and Thai Balcony, both of which I would highly recommend. Also had a days boating on the river and a picnic, where my boyfriend proposed - so we couldn't have had a better weekend!

A great hotel with great service

I agree with all the compliments in previous reviews. My husband and I had two days here last week. The service was just what you want in a good hotel, i.e. they made you feel you mattered. The laminated directions to the nearby carpark was a lovely touch (and they also lent us an umbrella in the rain!). Breakfast was great and beautifully served - good cooked food and big jars of jam etc (including home made lemon curd) so you could have as much as you wanted. My only quibble is the size of the bedroom (but not the bathroom which was more than adequate) but I suppose in an old building like that they have to carve en suites out of what they have got. Finally, the Maths student barman was smashing - all the best to him.
P.S. Re the Eastern Eye - I agree that the interior of the building is fabulous and the service impeccable but we found the food to be only average - we have had a lot better in much less grand surroundings.

A great find!

Small, clean, convenient . . . surprisingly quiet! Everyone was friendly and helpful - I would definitely stay there again! Great value for the money!

Thoroughly deserves to be in Top 10 for Bath!

Was very impressed with this hotel - many thanks to previous Trip Advisor reviewers for the recommendation!

Location is fantastic - Bath's major sights and a superb variety of shops and restaurants within a few minutes' walk. (During our stay it was about 85 degrees, so great to be able to pop back for a quick shower to freshen up!). It is 15 minutes' level walk - or £4 taxi ride - from Bath Spa station.

Quiet part of town - apart from the seagulls!

Bedrooms are a reasonable size, well decorated and spotlessly clean. Some satellite TV channels - and also a clock radio.

Breakfast exceeded expectations - great food, wide choice with fast and friendly service.

Rates are excellent value - especially on weeknights - and single occupancy supplements are not extortionate!

All staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Booking was very straightforward with e-mails replied to almost immediately.

Highly recommended - but wherever you choose to stay, have a great trip to Bath...!

Perfect

Just got back from here yesterday and I couldn't recommend this place enough.
We had room 3 and it was really well presented. Lovely clean sheets / towels, excellent shower which was well used as the temprature outside was between 27 deg & 30 deg for our stay. The only thing to be aware of was our bathroom had no outside window and after we'd both had showers it became like a midsummers afternoon in New Delhi!
Breakfast was also excellent. There is a choice of full english, or ham, cheese and boiled egg, croissants etc etc along with all the necessary acompliments like cerials, fresh juices and yoghurts.
The hotel's position could not be better. It is literally a 1 minute walk to all amenities ie: shops, retaurants, Roman Baths and of course.....some really good pubs!
Also, the staff are extremeley friendly and helpfull which always helps.
The best recommendation of all is that I would definatley stay here again!

Gorgeous hotel

An excellent hotel - In the middle of the town, near to several good restaurants and bars. Although the car park isn't by the hotel, its only a couple of minutes walk, and you are able to bring your luggage in before going to the car park. The room was beautiful, and the owners were lovely - its nice to see owners who take pride in having and keeping a nice hotel!
Will definitely go back, thank you for a lovely stay!

Fabulous small hotel right in the middle of Bath

from gill3sq
My husband, teenage daughter and I stay at Haringtons for two nights 10/11 April 2005. Leaving one daughter at home for the first time we needed a triple room and Haringtons could oblige. It was warm, welcoming and very clean - crisp white sheets and warm fluffy towels. Leah, one of the receptionists, who had taken our booking, met us outside on arrival and helped with the bags. All staff were friendly and smiling and appeared to enjoy their work. Breakfast was promptly served at a sensible time - all freshly cooked - no nasty shared buffet table here. Location of the hotel was brilliant - 50m from all the shops and attractions. Fabulous restaurants - would recommend the Firehouse just a few steps from the hotel. A brilliant setting and a great weekend break. Thank you.

Better than expected !

I was anxious about my booking as I had just read a poor review on TripAdvisor - I need not have worried. I emailed a previous guest and she assured me all was well. Took a last minute cancellation. The room was newly refurbished at the top of the hotel. Very clean, bright and with reasonable quality fittings/fixtures. Staff/owners friendly and helpful. Breakfast good. The situation could hardly have been better. Short walk to the car parking - that is relatively secure. Avoid the Eastern Eye Indian Restaurant - it took me nearly a wekk to recover from prawn biriyani. . .
