DO stay here. ( Your life IS safe !!!!!!!!!!)

Stayed here for 3 nights. Check in was smooth and staff were helpful with lots of leaflets and advice on the area. The public areas are bright, modern and clean. The rooms are also clean, bright, modern and comfortable. Even the staff who serviced the rooms always had a smile and said hello.

The continental breakfast was good and provided enough for a good start to the day. As has previously been said you can walk to town via Sainsbury's car park(15 mins walk). Guests were buying take-aways at Sainsbury's for their evening meal and cooking them in the microwave provided at the rear of the ground floor where you could get plates and cutlery as well. There was a selection of sandwiches and sausage rolls, drinks etc always available in the hotel and a bar selling alcohol.

There is a good restaurant across the road ( Indian) We had a great stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. No problems or moans at all.

Do not stay here if your life depends on it!

If you want to be treated as a room number instead of a guest then check in to this hotel, you'll be charged ridiculas prices for a mediocure room and no service at all. The staff are lazy and unhelpful and have no passion for customer service, they are all just there to get paid. I have stayed in hotels around the globe and stayed in some pretty shabby ones, this is by far the worst, if you want a nice hotel in Bath, use a smaller privatly owned one, i stayed at a place called Haringtons last week and had the best experiance to date. Bath however is a wonderful place, don't let this reveiw put you off seeing the city.

Slightly dubious after reading previous reports, but I have to say we were impressed. Far cleaner and more modern than a lot of other budget hotels/motels, but what we found made the stay was the staff. They were attentive without imposing and so polite and helpful.
The breakfast was adequate for continental and there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Only faults with the room were no showers (although I admit we didn't ask) and a severe shortage of luggage/wardrobe space.
Bath town centre is about 10 minute walk away, as is the Royal Crescent and Circus. An absolutely beautiful cathedral.
There is a restaurant just opposite the hotel called Bombay Nights. It's Nepalese. Fantastic! You must go!!

Stayed overnight in February. It was as expected with clean rooms of a reasonable size and within 10 minutes walk of the city centre. Car parking was plentiful and free, a bonus in Bath. Bar was disappointing, closed until 5pm and then an uninspired seating area. Staff were friendly and the Sainsbury supermarket across the road is convenient to buy a bottle of wine (or two!). Breakfast was not as bad as others have made out and was typical Express by Holiday Inn fayre. All in all, reasonable value for Bath and we would return if the deal was right.

The hotel is a cheap and cheerful, modern, clean budget hotel. As long as you go there with this in mind, then there is nothing that really disappoints and the hotel basically delivers on all points.

A couple of points deducted though....it's not the cheapest budget hotel, but then Bath is not a cheap place to stay. It's also a ten minute walk into town down a couple of poorly lit roads. And lastly don't expect more for breakfast than a croissant or bowl of cereal.

One thing to watch...our friends stayed at the same time as us but did not book online. They were initially charged £20 more than the cost on-line, though after some friendly negotiation with the manager, they managed to sort this out.

not impressed really, stayed new years eve. first impressions not bad. room newish but total lack of character and very small. heating was turned on full blast when we got into the room which was incredibly hot. advertised check out time was 12 noon, housekeeping knocked at 9.30 and again at 10.15. not even my granny gets up that early on new years day! no bath just a shower which was in fairness, quite good. horrible budget hotel feel to everything. asked for wine glasses only to be told that i would have to come to reception myself to collect them. bed also a bit lumpy. appauling value for money, twice the price of a travel inn, for the same facilities. breakfast a joke.

Does the job but is a rip off

A holiday inn is a holiday inn.. Therefore there a number of things you know you will get. Clean rooms, and facilities that work, especially from this hotel which is only a couple of years old.

The location, just outside the main town is good as well.

However.. I think it is poor value for money. If I pay £80 a night for a hotel, I expect a proper breakfast rather than stale croissants and watered down orange juice. I expect a proper bar. I basically expect a proper hotel, rather than one that gives the impression of being a pod to sleep in with no amenities.

It's not good value folks! Only in the UK are such hotels tolerated - Cut £30 off of the room rate and this place would get a high rating.

very good hotel

Stayed here for three nights in september so we could visit the university. Very pleased with the hotel as only ever stopped in holiday inn hotels before not express ones, considering the price of alot of the other hotels in Bath this one did serve us very well if you want granduer than book a private hotel in Bath and pay double the price but if it just a good clean base your looking for then this hotel is it.
Good rooms good shower rooms the only downfall was breakfast could have a little bit more variety but saying that you won't go hungry.Nice to be able to order in pizzas and chinese and eat in your rooms. Staff were very helpful.

Too Hot at Holiday Inn

We stayed here in early July 2005. We planned on staying two nights, but cancelled the second night. England was warm this summer, and this Holiday Inn only had air conditioning in the lobby. We were on the third floor, and the window, although we could open it, only opened partially and was obscured by a cement facade. We asked for a fan and were first told they were out, but then one was found. It wouldn't turn on, no matter how hard we tried. By the morning, the four of us were drenched from the sufffocating evening. Rooms were clean and modern, our room had a double bed and a futon for the two kids to sleep on. It was tight, but would have been fine if not for the A.C. problem. Location is a bit out of the way for restaurants.

The room was very clean and a nice size, decorated in the IKEA style. The bathroom and shower were big and a welcome sight after the smaller versions in London. There was a gas station with a convenience store across the street. A continental breakfast was included, a buffet help-yourself style. It is within walking distance of the Roman Baths, which helps because parking is limited there. The only draw back we found was that the windows were so thin that they didn't keep out any noise. There were some local teens carousing all night that kept us awake. Another drawback was that we couldn't use our phone card to call home. We arrived at Bath on July 7th, just after the bombings, and wanted to call home to let them know we were alright. We had to use the hotel phone and pay the fees that they charged, which turned out to be reasonable.

Top Local Tips for Bath

Finding good food and great value We ate lunch at "The Raven" in town and enjoyed it very much. This was our first introduction to the "Ploughman's lunch" which consists of a hard cheese, some bread, a small salad and "pickle". Others in our party had the Thai pie which was chicken and green curry sauce in a flaky pie crust bowl. Of course we washed it down with some tasty cask ales.

Roman Bath discount If you intend to go to the Roman Baths (and you should, it's fab) and you also intend to go on the bus City Sightseeing tour, make sure you go on the bus first. On production of the bus ticket at the Romas Baths you receive a 10% discount to the entry fee.

lots of traffic getting into Bath by car took a very long time - allow plenty of time or travel there by train/bus.
