A Great Base for a lovely weekend
from A TripAdvisor MemberGeneral Bath Note, don't have a boat trip on a low level boat, as you can't see over the embankment!
Great Location
from LyndaCambridgeThe rooms were very clean and staff very friendly.
The breakfasts were a bit on the small side but there was plenty of variety so you didn't go hungry.
Was maybe a little bit pricey at £100 a night for a glorified guest house.
Bravo Carfax - brilliant stay!
from A TripAdvisor MemberRoom - We stayed in Rm 24, which was a double/triple room on the first floor at the front. It was beautifully decorated, had three big windows looking out on to the street, a cute bathroom/shower and an additional room for dressing and tea stuff.
Service - The staff were nice and helpful (thanks Martin for the directions), the breakfasts were always cooked well (they have a organic thing going with local suppliers or something), and the room was spotless.
PArking - that was a bit traumatic at first as the car park was full when we arrived, but we got a free parking permit and a map from reception and parked the first night at the back of the hotel. We got in the car park the next day no problem and forgot about the car.
Location - perfect. Couldnt be better for the Roman Baths, Church, River and shops. We enjoyed the park at the back of the hotel, and had picnic lunches with a bottle of wine - which I recommend.
Price - We came for a long weekend during the Bath Music Festival (Sat - Tueday) and paid £119.90 on the Sat night and £105 on the other nights. This included breakfast and while I wouldn't say it was cheap I still believe it to be very good value for money. The room quality and location was worth it. I have stayed in Bath hotels before in the centre and paid much more for a lot less. I recommend the Carfax as a great middle price hotel.
I'm sending my brother a few pics of my stay in Bath and thought I'd post them up on this site. They aint so hot, but you get an idea of the place.
Clean, Friendly, Central and reasonably priced - Highly recommended
from A TripAdvisor MemberBreakfast was a bit crowded at 9.45 but when it came it was a real treat - liked the idea of local companies for the environment and freetrade teas, which was strangly 'right-on' for a Bath hotel I thought?
It was really close to the Roman Baths, which we enjoyed - strange to think it's 2000 years since the romans did their thing in Bath.
Only compliant was the car park was full when we got here, but they gave us a permit for the street which was fine.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone, as we looked around at similarly priced hotels on the day, and were shown some really shocking rooms (steer clear of the Red Car - eugh).
p.s. if you come to Bath, make sure you go to the Victoria Art Gallery near the bridge - it's got some really great Gainsborough oils.
We would definately return ....
from A TripAdvisor MemberExcellently located
from A TripAdvisor MemberWatch out for their rising rates!
from A TripAdvisor MemberCarfax Reservations resents the implication that we hike up rates indiscriminately, as this is clearly not the case - we couldn't do business for long if we did! I would hope that when our guest from Texas actually stay at the hotel, they will acknowledge what good service and value for money our hotel offers and accept that one mistake does not a systematic scam make!

Highly Recommended by Kitty
from A TripAdvisor MemberIt's well placed for the city and the park (it has so hot when we were there, on one day we just 'lifted' a coulple of the hotel's deck chairs and headed for the park at the back.)
I would have no problem recommending this place to anyone, in fact don't stay anywhere else!

A nice place to stay
from A TripAdvisor MemberTerrific breakfast too. Two minutes from all attractions, but calm, away from things feeling.
s the Carfax from now on!

Contact hotel's directly... i tried to get this bath hotel to give me a room on one of the book online websites but was told they were full. I got desperate and started ringing around hotels, and found that I was offered a better deal on the phone than online. Ask for their 'best price' and tell them you've stayed there before on a cheap rate - that worked very well! good luck.
Bath's Metro Check out the Metropolis cafe at the bottom of Milsom street. Great coffee good price nice atmos.
Do Not Stay Here Don't do it. Go somewhere else. These have to be the rudest people on earth. Whilst at the Dukes I shared my experience and they were not surprised.

It is very friendly, well-run, clean and charming. Best of all it's location in Bath can't be beat - in a beautiful Georgian street. I'd suggest you won't be disappointed if you book up there, even though it is not especially cheap. It's just great!
