Top Local Tips for Bath

Park and Ride is the way to go! In total, we ventured into Bath for 3 days during our stay as it is a vast city. We decided to avoid taking the car into Bath as we had been told that Bath has a heavy traffic problem. So we found it less stressful to take the normal bus (which departs by the bridge at the end of the lane from Limpley Stoke Hotel). The price for a ticket on this bus was £5.30 return each for an adult, which, needless to say, we found rather extortionate. A few days later we decided to visit a different destination (Salisbury) and we took the Park and Ride on this occasion. Only to find that the cost for a return ticket was £2.50 which covered up to six people. Which worked out at much better money than the normal First bus.

The Hop Pole Inn Although not owned by the hotel (or vice versa) the Hop Pole Inn is a pub a couple of minutes walk away from the Best Western and they clearly have close links. Some reviewers of the pub had not been overly impressed, but I have to say that our party found that the pub was not only convenient, but also served good food. I particularly liked the way that they still managed to accomodate our party of twelve people, even though we were late by almost an hour (its a long story).
