Beautiful Bailbrookfrom Emilywinifred
t Bother!from Vrooom
We arrived on the Friday, to find a very clinical looking reception, and after checking in were given a map of how to find our room and the other amenities. First impressions weren't good when we discovered we'd be spending our weekend in what looked like a 1960's Travelodge, when we thought we'd be living in luxury within the walls of an Edwardian residence.
Our room was also a disappointment; yes it had a king size bed, but it was certainly not superior in size. The carpet was full of dubious looking stains, and the walls and bathroom could certainly have done with a make over. There wasn't even a glass in the bathroom to swill your mouth out after brushing! My wife likes tea, I prefer beer, and the room had 6 coffee sachets and just 2 tea bags, so it was just as well that I don't drink tea.
We ate in the lounge bar that evening, which is curiously situated on the first floor, and therefore seemed to lack atmosphere. To be fair, the meals we had were both substantial and fantastic, and I'd have to give them top marks for that. Likewise, the next morning's breakfast was very enjoyable.
Day 2 saw us return from Bath thirsty, so I decided to go to the bar at 17:45 whilst my wife enjoyed her tea ( an excuse to catch the football results!). There was a wedding reception being held in the dining room and it appeared every staff member was there. I waliked into the bar, but after waiting 45 minutes to be served, gave up and returned to my room, tongue hanging on the floor. We ate out that evening! On our return, we walked to the bar to find it was closed for the wedding, and we were told to go to a room within the house, which had the choice of 1 beer (if you can call John Smiths a beer!), and 1 lager.
Checking out was another mixed bag of events. My wife had calculated the weekend hotel cost including 2 meals and 1 round of drinks to be about £250, but the receptionist asked for £177, and my wife duly paid, after which the receptionist handed over the itemised bill (I would have thought this should come first!). Once back in the car, we checked the bill to see that it included a room for 2 nights, 1 round of drinks, but 2 lots of meals, the second being £40, and both of them on the same night!
After a 30 minute discussion, the £40 was refunded as my wife had not signed for the meal, so the whole weekend cost £137! Not bad you might say, but we sold, and were prepared to pay for a Superior room in a 4* hotel, when I think we got, because of the wedding reception, an ordinary room in a 2* hotel!
We have made our feelings known to the hotel, and no we're not professional moaners, but suffice to say I would rate Premier Travel Inns way above this, and we won't be going back to Bailbrook House!
Great Hotelfrom paneuropean
If you are looking for a place to stay in Bath I strongly recommend this.
Not so greatfrom TEDBUN
The accommodation wing looks scarily like a travel lodge from the outside but the rooms are OK. Our request for a view was not meet even though the hotel was virtually empty. On the first night, the main restaurant & bar were closed due to a wedding. We had to order food in a conservatory bar. It took 40 minutes to get a drink and almost 2 hours for the food to arrive. There were only 4 other sets of guests and we all had to endure this wait. Staff seemed helpless but on a good point - no-one paid for anything. Another problem is the breakfast buffet is freezing unless you arrive early.
And the check out time is ridiculously early. 9.00AM on a weekday. Before they even stop serving breakfast!!
On a plus side there is free wireless internet connection but not in the rooms, only in the main hotel building.
Not recommended - you will find much better options in the city centre.
Nice Placefrom Leisurepro
You need a plan to get from one part of the hotel to the other and even the staff we asked didn't know which bar was open. The route from reception to the bedroom also took us two attempts but once we'd realised we had to go out in order to get back in(!!) everything was OK.
The room was very nicely appointed and comfortable and great care had obviously been taken to 'get things right'. Breakfast was good and the service was efficient and friendly.
All in all, this is a superior conference hotel and I would certainly use it again
What a lovely place!from A TripAdvisor Member
The room was clean and well presented and we were left ample provisions within the room, including some rather nice shortbread. Our room looked out on to the well maintained gardens and surrounding countryside, which was breathtaking despite the awful weather.
The breakfast was well cooked and the dining room very modern and attractive.
The thing that stood out for me about this place more than anything however was the staff. No matter who you encounter, from the receptionist to the cleaner as you walk past a room they are cleaning, they all say hello and smile, they wait and hold doors open for you, even if you are a distant spot down the corrador!
Excellent service that I will definetely be returning for.
We were satisfiedfrom A TripAdvisor Member
The setting for the hotel is nice and quite elevated. Parking was easy and our room was large. Our room was reasonably clean.
we took our evening meal in the restaurant and enjoyed the meal.
Only unfavourable points were:
the high temperature of the room, which appears to be due to the main hotwater pipe passing through the room in an exposed location
beds had a doona but no seperate top sheet or blanket - which made temperature control difficult
our location on the top floor was by way of some very narrow stairs and taking our modest size luggae up the stairs required a pretty fair effort.
all round great hotel!from A TripAdvisor Member
We arrived approx 1pm, and after requesting a "room with a view" we were not provided with one, however the staff made absolutely every attempt to make sure our stay was as requested, and we were provided with a 2nd floor room, that had a great view, but only a double rather than a king sized bed, but to make up for it the hotel manager gave us a bottle of champagne (Later discovered restaurants were charging £27 for) and some free drinks in the bar while we waited for the room to be made up. So a great start....
The rooms were very well decorated, clean, spacious, modern, and with a comfy bed. (the little cakes you get with the tea/coffee in your room were also very nice).
Even when we got in at about 1am after a night out the staff were more than willing to grab us a bucket of ice for the wine we brought from home!
The gym was great, had it all to myself one afternoon, the sauna is also very good.
All round a great hotel! highly recommended.
Perfectly adequatefrom A TripAdvisor Member
However...for a last minute search for accommodation in Bath it was very clean and the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed.
We stayed for two nights and arriving late on the first night the restaurant was closed. We were directed to the bar which was still serving "bar snacks". Absolutley nothing to complain about here (exept for the lack of atmosphere in the bar!)and I was rather suprised at how the food was simple yet very good.
The buffet breakfast in the morning was excellent with all the usual fayre in abundance!
The staff were young yet very friendly and showed their profesionalism as we were checking out. We complained about our last nights sleep disturbed by various drunken shenanigans by other guests - shouting in coridoors, slamming doors etc -and they didn't hesitate to offer us a discounted rate to compensate - very impressed, having been prepared for the usual English interpretation of "customer service".
To summize, a clean and comfortable stay even though i did feel i should have been attending presentations! ;-)

Aqua Restaurant - Bath Absolutely beautiful Italian restaurant. Great Value for money - service, food and wine excellent!
The Moon and Sixpence - Excellent Restaurant We had a long dinner in the restaurant area of the Moon and Sixpence. The courtyard or inside tables are both lovely and the food was excellent, and the staff were professional and friendly.
