Hotel advertised as comtemporary - Not. We stayed in Room 15 (arygll suite), it was not very clean, carpets dirty and stained, wall in lounge area had tea stains on wall where people had put tea-bags in bin! Bathroom was out of the arc!!! Plastic tiles on walls, horrible plastic bath with horrible marked trim, mirror was rusty. We were looking forward to the breakfast but dissappointed, had alot better in cheaper places. Staff not very helpful or polite, dining area chairs were dirty. What can I say - very disappointed as looking forward to staying here.

The staff are very rude and what I would say "up themselves". They treat us like children just because we weren't very old even though we paid for our room just like everyone else. They made no effort to be polite or friendly and I was not at all impressed. The food wasn't much to brag about and the bar was ridiculously overpriced! I'd never even consider staying there again and I would not recommend it to anyone else who was considering staying in the Barnard Castle area. The town itself is a gorgeous place, it's just a shame that the hotel was so awful!
