Top Local Tips for Marmaris

To see the 'real' Turkey, go to Datca... Datca is a small, coastal town half way long the Marmaris peninsula, but it could be on another planet! Whereas Marmaris tends to be loud, brash and 'in-your-face', Datca is a sleepy port town with a good marina and links to the Greek island of Symi, just across the water. It was a relaxed, unhurried and very pleasant place with a small, but quality range of shops and helpful, friendly people. The drive down the peninsula is also impressive. On the outskirst, the settlement of Eskidatca gives a feel for the 'real' Turkey, with traditional architecture being retained and restored by local people.

Take a trip to Netsel marina A trip to Netsel marina is well worth it. There are some pretty shops tucked away and one or two lovely restaurants, including one called Pineapple, which despite the odd name does great food. It's lovely to look at the yachts and get some peace and quiet from the hustle of town.
