Love turkey, hate turkin!

When we arrived at the Turkin hotel, we didn't get a very warm welcome, hotel staff grumpy and hostile. That didn't change throughout the holiday either.

Our room was disgusting, we had a mouldy fridge with bugs and brown liquid in, dust everywhere, no curtains just the net curtains (and that doesn't block the sunlight in the early morning), mouldy; shower, shower curtain and sink we even had to beg for towels (in the end I had to go in the maid cupboard and get my own) and toilet roll, we had a room cleaned once.

When I complained about the room, they said they would move us, we had to keep on and it took 3days. Did his best to get our room changed, which did eventually happen after 3 days.

We loved Turkey, Kusadasi is such a nice place, but hated we the Turkin hotel! We are going back to Turkey next year but definitely NOT the Turkin.

Hotel okay, no one spoke english so you could not commnicate.One room had no light bulbs and a faulty shower until after five days the maid took pity on me. No one helped me get off the mattress i had to sleep in for two weeks though . No 24 hour service as stated, also weddings meant hotel guests could not use bar and that the poor food was usually finished within an hour of dinner .

Unusual place to stay

Following on from other reviews we also had some unusual service. On arrival we discovered that we were not allocated enough beds for our party. I must stress that this was the fault of the local travel agency Yesil Dalyan/Regal Tours who had faxed the wrong information to the hotel (I had sight of the fax)possibly others suffered the same way. It took two days to sort out the problem but to be fair we were offered an additional room in the meantime. We did raise the query with the travel rep on site to enquire as to why the error had happened from his agency but his prime motivation appeared to sell excursions.

Eventually we did gain an extra bed but this was merely two mattresses stacked on each other rather than a solid base.

Room cleaning was hit and miss and we found that handing the key to the cleaner personally gained results, as she did not appear to possess a master key.

Overall, a number of the staff did try hard and were friendly but I think that they were overwhelmed by the number of guests and the external functions such as wedding receptions they were hosting during the time we stayed.

Like nearly all hotels in the area - even the 5* - there is a ban on bringing your own food and drink into the hotel and it is subject to removal by staff (Assuming they clean your room). Whilst I can understand a reluctance to let holiday makers bring their own drinks poolside and to the meals normally it is expected that personal drinks can be taken to your room. The prices of hotel drinks etc were at a premium compared to the small shop attached to the hotel.

The website needs a little updating, as the photographs do not truly reflect the hotel layout today.

Other minor problems included the lift being out of order for two days and the main lights not working in the bedroom - despite logging the job with reception no action had been taken by the time we departed.

On the subject of excursions this is one of the few instances I have been on an organised tour when the coach party refused to get off the coach - the passengers just wanted to get to the main antiquity they had booked to see rather than stop off at yet another "special demonstration" of craftsmanship with the opportunity to buy. We were also transferred from one day to another on the visit we booked because the guide was better that day! This did not inspire confidence in Regal Tours.

This could be a good hotel if it focussed on its core business.

We stayed at the Turkin hotel for two weeks. It was the worst holiday we have ever had, we are a family of 4 but were only given 3 beds for the duration of our stay. Hardly anyone spoke English so complaining was really a no go! My husband and children caught a bug from the hotel along with the rest of the British holidaymakers resulting in them not being able to leave hotel for days. Half board option is a joke with warm salad and left over dinner from night before for breakfast. the swimming pool was only cleaned once due to them holding a Turkish wedding one evening and then we had to watch it from our balcony as we were not allowed near the bar area-if that's what you call entertainment! Hotel is located near a hospital, good job really! It is miles from anywhere requiring Dolmus or taxi to go into town-hotel is off the beaten track with one small shop under hotel, which only sells Turkish newspapers. We been to turkey 7 times so luckily for us it hasn't put us off, but we will never return to Turkin (staff a bunch of muppets) or Kusadasi-too expensive (7 lira for bottle of efes). If anyone books to stay in the Turkin they must be mad!!! Don't do it.

Food Poisoning Heaven

After staying at the Turkin Hotel for a week half board me and my partner found this stay horrendous. The rooms were filthy and dangerous we had live wires hanging out from all over the place, dirty linen on the beds, diabolical food which was at its best inedible, unless you wanted food poisoning...thank god the hospital was across the road!!! We met with a doctor called to the hotel on an emergency call out and he said that if he was called to the Turkin Hotel on one more occasion to treat food poisoning it would be shut down. After having a luxurious view of the building site opposite, we overlooked the chef smoking a pipe while preparing the food. How hygienic. I totally would not recommend this hotel to anybody, wouldn't go there again ever even for free. Staff useless just look at you vacant every time you ask them basic questions. Unbelievable. A word of advice, do not stay here. The place is a death trap.

Dont go!!!! Hated it !!!!! Staff rude, restaurant no selection just one choice which was not eatable, rooms nasty and to small. Arrived at the hotel to find we were a bed short. Hotel charged 5***** prices for 0* otel.

I took my 14 yr old son and his friend on what we thought would be a good value holiday. I booked for 3 persons and only got 2 beds, the entertainment was non-existant, the distance into town was a good taxi or dolmas ride away, the food was diplorable and many guests were ill during my stay including myself and my sons friend. The drinks are over priced compared to others establishments, the staff are surly and very unhelpful. The rep from OTB was a waste of space. there are not enough loungers by the pool and once you have claimed your lounger, keep the towel on it over night, every night to maintain your spot. I would never return, would never recommend and would definately advise you not to even consider this hotel, it is a dump compared to others I have experienced in Turkey. We were lucky, the other Brits experiencing the problems were all very friendly so it made the week go quick. I was glad to get home. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE.....PLEASE FOR THE GOOD OF YOUR HEALTH

this was my first holiday abroad and i waited a long time for it, i wish i had of stayed at home! has very nearly put me off going abroad! totally mis-advertised. no t.vs, no fridge, i was a bed short, cramped, rude staff, the food is slop, the drinks are very expensive, and you have to buy them from the hotel...they will not allow you to take any drinks or food into your room unless bought from the hotel and they will check you as you retire.the management do not want to help with any problems..UNLESS you pay extra..please avoid this hotel, its more like a 100 room shabby bedsit..only worse! the entertainment is a full blown turkish wedding every fri that goes on untill the early hours..believe me you cannot sleep through it! dont waste you money on this hotel!

Top Local Tips for Kusadasi

Off main streets Try looking down back street for somewhere to eat much better much cheaper. Look SERAY RESTAURANT wonderful steak.

ethesus go to ethesus, it was great, along with the house of the virgin mary theres also a museum. ada land and aqua fantasy two water parks close by a must. dont miss ladies beach for places to eat. we had car hire but it wasnt realy worth it as buses so good free for under 7,s.

Save some money I was surprised that Kussadassi was quite expensive (drink and food) bar street (the main part of the town) was a rip off £7 for a cocktail £7-10 for peach snapps with lemonade. However some of the bars before you reach this street are alot cheaper and it is worth spending some time there before heading to the more popular bars. Kitty o'sheas was great the bar staff are really friendly and brilliant dancers they are also good with kids.
