The rooms and restaurant were literally dirty. The bedspread and carpets were soiled, the sheets and chairs had holes in them. The place is falling apart. Some of the food was clearly spoiled that the restaurant. Additionally, the place was filled with strange men who stare at you. I would have rather spent the night camping, I would have felt safer and less gross than at this hotel. By American standards this would not even be AAA approved, like a one star.

Top Local Tips for Konya

Closed attractions and must sees The very beautiful Alaeddin Mosque is closed for repairs (as of Dec. 07). Also the interesting Karatay Museum (Tile Museum) is also closed at this time. The Mevlana Museum is open and should be visitied by anyone interested in Mevlana and the Whirling Dervishes. (The Whirling Dervishes do not perform at the museum.) Next to the Mevlana Museum is a lovely mosque that welcomes visitors. Our group of five was invited to stay for noon prayers; however, we couldn't stay. The Ince Minare Medresesi,withing walking distance of the Mevlana Museum, is a stone and wood carving museum. It is worth a visit.
