I was staying there with my girlfriend and the owner start to talk dirty to my girl friend and the guy at reception asked my girlfriend for going out. Owner was dirty talker and staff was not respectful.

Top Local Tips for Istanbul

Beaware of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves We took a ferry to visit one of the four islands (Adlar) the sea for Marnmar which many local families go on the weekend. We stopped at the last or the 4th island. We stop at a water front restaurant - Ali Baba - for lunch, which was recommended by Lonely Planet. For four of us, the waiter recommended a rather large fish from the fresh stand. I try to inquire how much the fish would cost, but did not get an answer as the waiter rushed off to the kitchen. Long story short, the fish was delicious, and more than we can eat. The shock came at end of lunch when we were presented with 330 lire (US $ 250). The charge for the fish was 90 lire ($70/kg) and the 2.5 kg fish cost a total of $175! In short, we were taken - the most expansive fish we ever had. It is clear this was a well rehearsed practice to con unsuspected tourist. As we were leaving, we saw the waiters were given each other a big smile and thumbs up. In a way, this restrurant could be better named as Ali Baba and the 40 thives

Head of to Istiklal Istiklal is a great local area for shopping, food and cafes. It's packed on a Sunday and great for people watching and feeling the European side of the city. Ride the streetcar!
