Pleasant hotel, great location, great service.from nadinerichmond
Every city needs a Sari Konak!from lryzebo
Great locationfrom vicimelda
We were sharply woken up at 5:40am by the praying that is broadcast from speakers from the Blue Mosque! Not a good way to wake up when disoriented!
The location of the hotel was also very good and we walked most places. The staff were very happy to help us with directions and they spoke good english.
The hotel has a great roof top deck that we used while waiting to go to the airport. The drink prices are quite expensive but with that view, what do you do?....
I would stay here again and recommend this hotel.
Really Fantastic!!!from A TripAdvisor Member
Good/clean rooms, perfect in a quit area, but still close to all culturale things to visit! I would also like to thank Defne for her wonderfull help. And the restaurant she recommended to eat authentic turkisch food. The place is called Hala, and you can eat turkisch pancakes stuffed with delicious things. It is in Taksim on the main street,(where the tramrail is!) go up a street between Benetton for kids and a chocolatshop, go left at the end of that street, you see a groccery en next to is Hala. Really wonderful.
Defne was really helpfull, and so where the other staffmembers! Nothing was too much. Next time to Istanbul and I will surely come back!
Thanx for a great holiday!

Great location on a quiet street, within walking distance of Sultanahmet Square, Seraglio Point and light rail... cozy rooms and modern bathroom plumbing... a fine breakfast and, above all, a helpful, friendly and efficient staff. At the risk of "spoiling" a terrific hideaway in glorious Istambul by reiterating what others have already said, one word sums up the Sari Konak experience: "Go!"
Perfect hotel in Sultanahmet!from Maggot
I can back up all of the nice comments below, this really is a fantastic hotel! I would recommend it to anyone travelling to Istanbul.
The hotel is a small family run place right in the middle of all the sights in Sultanahmet, but on a quiet street and near the waterfront. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel and its rooms are beautiful and clean, and it has a great roof terrace.
It's rooms and communal areas are tastefully renovated with some lovely details, but not at all over the top. Everything is very clean and in very good condition, looks like it was renovated yesterday. The reception and lounge areas are lovely and cool and simple, with marble floors and staircases, pale colours, various antiques, comfy sofas and pictures of old Istanbul. A real relaxing haven after a day of sightseeing or shopping.
Breakfast (which is very nice) is in the breakfast room which opens into a lovely shaded courtyard.
Best of all, the rooftop terrace is beautiful with views to the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sofia and marmora sea. There is a covered seating area, but also has some cushioned benches dotted around the terrace from where you can take in the view and watch the world go by below - over a cool beer.
The rooms, like the rest of the hotel, are clean, simple, and very tastefully decorated. They have a small TV and air con. Beds comfy, everything spotlessly clean. We took one standard room (which was adequate in size and great on all other counts) and one deluxe room, which was bigger and had a few more pieces of furniture (lovely antique desk etc).
The staff are all either the family or friends of the owner (or the owner himself) and they are incredibly friendly and helpful. They will help you with your Turkish, your sightseeing, restaurant recommendations and bookings etc. But they are also just lovely and chatty and will happily tell you about their lives in Istanbul, how they renovated the hotel etc.
In our exploring (and we did a lot) we passed most other Sultanahmet hotels. We could also see a fair few from our terrace. I have to say that from the outside / reception areas, none looked as nice as Sari Konak. The really big luxury places are not in Sultanahmet.
I really can't think of any negatives. I can't imagine why anyone would want to stay anywhere else. So, unless a big modern chain hotel with full on pool, gym, european restaurant and room service etc is an absolute neccessity for you (I can't imagine why it would be unless you're on business travel) stay here! You will love it.
A Great Place!from bagritter
Defne, at the front desk, was extremely helpful and pleasant. She was very knowledgeable of the public transportation systems, and helped us plan our routes on multiple occasions.
We would highly recommend Sari Konak.

Nice Boutique Hotel With One Reservationfrom toodlepip
The rooms were comfortable and pleasantly furnished, although not overly large, exactly what we were after from this type of hotel. The staff initially were friendly and suggested some things to do in Istanbul and located the main sightseeing attractions on a handy map. Unlike our other stays in Turkey, they didn't push us towards any tours, or try and point us to a carpet shop, which was great.
The hotel was a splendid roof terrace, which was a bit nippy at the start of June, but would be fantastic when it's warmer. We had drinks up there each evening before wondering our for dinner. Watching the sun set of the Sea of Marmara with the Blue Mosque towering behind you, really gives you the chance to take in the atmosphere of Istanbul. As the hotel is perched fairly high on the hill, you can also look down on the houses and streets below, whilst the sea gulls batter each other on the roof above you!
The only drawback, and sadly this did rather colour our stay there was that a passport went missing from one of our rooms. We kicked ourselves for not putting it into the hotel safe, but never having had a problem before, we didn't feel the need to. What surprised us was the utter disbelief of the hotel staff, who failed to believe the passport was gone, or that anyone would have taken it from the room.
They weren't helpful in sorting out the problem and we had to figure out for ourselves that we'd need to get a report from the police and then go to the embassy to get a new one re-issued. This did leave a rather bitter taste in the mouth, which was a shame because otherwise I really liked this hotel.
In particular, the guy who looked after the little bar on the roof was really friendly and we enjoyed helping him practise his English.

Tram to Dolmabahçe It´s easy to get a tram to Dolmabahçe, you just have to leave the tram on the last stop and it costs 1.3 ytl.
Bring comfortable shoes Much walking, both within historical areas as well as between them. Sometimes on cobblestone roads.
