perfect place to rest andt to see town

I and my husband ( 29-32 years old) were turists and we have stayed in this hotel on 9-13th of May. We had a great time in this hotel. Perfect staff. Room was a little bit small but ok., bed, bathroom - ok. Good breakfast, just we would like to see more fruits next time we will stay in your hotel :))

We will come back to Istanbul and really we will stay in Sapphire again!!!

Just returned from a great weekend in Istanbul, staying at Sapphire hotel. We (me & my wife) can gladly recommend this lovely hotel run by a very professional team.

We've traveled a lot, so we know what good hotels are all about. This one has all the things that are essential for a good stay:
nice, clean rooms; v. rich breakfast, professional service, v. competative price.

My husband and I spent 6 nights in the Hotel Sapphire in April 2008 and were delighted with our reception. By booking directly with the Hotel (at the same price, if not cheaper, than through other websites) we were picked up free of charge at the airport and delivered in style to the hotel - a gesture much appreciated as it was our first trip to Istanbul and we arrived at 11.30 p.m.

The charming young owner/manager and his staff showed us a spontaneous hospitality which we are unlikely to forget. No request seemed to be too much trouble for them, and everything was done with a smile.

We chose the hotel mainly for its location, right in the midst of the old town on the European side (as opposed to the Asian side across the Bosphorous - a boat ride over is highly recommended) and we weren't disappointed. It couldn't have been better placed to reach all the points of interest we visitors go to Istanbul to see! A short walk of about 10 minutes took us to the Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sofia, Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, and many other sites too numerous to mention.

An important detail is the quiet street in which it is set, an oasis of peace in this bustling city, yet it is surrounded by restaurants and shops and a stone's throw from the wonderful tram service.

The hotel rooms, if not oversized, in keeping with the architecture, have recently been renovated and are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are new and fresh with wonderful showers. The hotel is clean and well cared for.

Most visitors will find a breakfast to suit their needs from the wide variety available.

Very Comfortable and Good Value For Money

We stayed at the Hotel Sapphire for 4 nights in March this year and found it to be very comfortable and good value for money. The room was average sized but attractively furnished, the beds comfortable and the bathroom modern and clean. The hotel's lounge is also very comfortably and attractively furnished, there is also a small bar on the ground floor and a breakfast room/restaurant in the basement where the breakfast was good and plentiful. There is another restaurant on the roof terrace on the top of the hotel but in March it was closed. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, one even took us along the road to a restaurant that he recommended for an evening meal and personally introduced us to the owner. The hotel is in an excellent location on a quiet sidestreet in the Old City around 10 minutes walk from all the sights, including The Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Covered Bazaar. There are a number of bars and restaurants close to the hotel. We had a great time in Istanbul, it is a fascinating city and I would recommend the Sapphire as a comfortable and clean base for sightseeing.

My boyfriend and I spent two nights at the Sapphire Hotel because we read enthusiastic reviews about it. I must say that our experience there it was nothing special. First of all, the full rate per night (90 € double room) is pretty high compared to the services offered: the rooms were pretty clean and spacious, breakfast was ok, but everything was just on average. The Sapphire is a normal, international-like hotel. Positive aspects: free internet access. The hotel is really close to St. Sohpia, the Blue Mosque and Topkaki Palace, but watch out that it is very far to the city day and night life (which takes place in an area called Taksim). If I had to go back to Istanbul, I'll surely chose a different accomodation, in a more typical Turkish style.

Perfect Location

My husband and I stayed with our 8 mth old son for 7 nights. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help, we felt very well looked after. As we weren't comfortable travelling on public transport without a baby seat we wanted to be central to most of the tourist sites enabling us to walk. Hotel Sapphire is a perfect location for this. The hotel is a little old around the edges however suited us as a young family as it provided all our needs. I also believe we stayed in the old part as opposed to the new part that has recently been renovated. I highly recommend it for travelers, especially those travelling with young children.

Lovely Hotel in Great Location..

Stayed for three nights in this lovely & excellent hotel in April 2008.This beautiful hotel is located only five minutes away from all the historical places (like Topkapi Palace,Hagia Sophia,amazing Blue Mosque and many others).
The room was spacious,clean and very comfortable,very vell presented with quality interiors and with all the useful facilities as well.I must also point out that all the staff were very polite,friendly and most important very helpful.
I was able to use my laptop in anywhere in this fantastic hotel,because of wireless internet facilitiy, which was great.
Another good thing was beatufilly served open buffet breakfast,I strongly recommend to try turkish style breakfast to those who wants to visit this magnificent city.
I enjoyed very much staying in Sapphire Hotel during my visit in Istanbul therefore I would like to thank you to all the staff (speically front desk)once again.I will definetly stay at Sapphire Hotel,every time I visit the city.
Overall,I would highly recommend this perfect hotel who wants to be staying close by to all historical places in a picturesque location.

Just returned from Hotel Sapphire. Booked online so not sure what to expect. Delighted. Location was superb. In a quiet cobbled pedestrianised street about 2 mins from trams, (giving access to other side of the Golden Horn). 5 minutes from Topkapi, Blue Mosque and Ayasophia on foot. Only 5 mins or so walk from spice bazaar. Comfortable and pleasantly appointed. Rooms comfortable with modern and clean facilities. TV, Minibar etc. Lift. Comfortable lounge and bar. Good choice of breakfast foods Staff very friendly and helpful with free airport transfer on longer stays. We stayed 4 nights. Even gave us breakfast at 5am when we had to catch an early flight home. Could not fault whole experience.

I had a very nice stay in Sapphire hotel in Istanbul, and I can recommand it to every travellers.

The quality rate is excellent. To my mind the rooms are a little bit to small, but they are comfortable and equiped with all the european standards. The breakfast is really good and offers variety.

I have to add that the staff is very professionnal. All the employees do their best to satisfy customers, especialy Ümit and Deniz (reception).

Sapphire Hotel is situated in the European side of Istanbul. It is in walking distance from the main sightseeing attractions such as Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar. Those who desire to explore the Asian part can take the tram (stops nearby) and get back to the hotel easily even late at night.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, happy to advise on any issues (sightseeing tours, nice restaurants, transport, etc.) We were glad to meet Harun, Umit, Vural and Jano and hope to see them again when we visit Istanbul next time.

The rooms are clean and well-equipped (tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar, free wireless internet, safe, hairdryer, etc). The breakfast is excellent, worth to get up on time not to miss it. If you fancy trying the famous turkish bath you are more than welcome to do so in the hotel.

Anytime we happen to visit Istanbul again, we will definitely stay at Sappire Hotel.

Top Local Tips for Istanbul

Shopping and transportation Allways try to do a bargain (don't accept the first price) if you buy from bazar or other shops (except the western one). I've went to a leather shop,for example, where yo can negociate with them. It looks like a western one (with price tags,clean, large and so on) but you can negociate the price (I've managed to go for 50% from the starting price).There are a lot of shops like this. Be aware of the taxi (some drivers try to cheat you).Be aware, in bazar, of the pocket thieves. Istanbul worth a try (a trip).

Food Try to find places where the locals eat as the quality of the food is better and it will cost you less.

House Café, Ortaköy When you just cannot eat any more kebabs, this place is a breath of fresh air! It's quite a trek, but worth it. We had lunch at this restaurant on the terrace and it was fabulous! Lovely place Ortaköy - you can locate the area from a Bosphorous boat tour.
