from Ert53
We were booked into this hotel as part of a tour and stayed on for an extra night. It is a standard business-type hotel and quite acceptable in most ways with nice rooms and bathrooms, good service, and comfortable beds. I was delighted to see tea and coffee making in the room after weeks in other hotels and countries where there was no such thing There is a computer in the lobby area with internet access but it didn't work most of the time we were there. There was a lot of constructon work going on next door so it was a bit noisy. I suppose it's finished by now. The area looks a bit dodgy as the hotel is surrounded by auto-parts dealers but in fact it was quite safe and was an easy walk to the main tourist sights and the station.

I agree with other postings, that it is is very annoying to have to pay lots of money for an orange juice at breakfast. And it was done pretty dishonestly - we had been warned so didn't accept the offer. And you wouldn't want to eat in the restaurant-we nearly did one night, but there was nobody else there so we beat a hasty retreat! There's no need anyway as it's a short walk to lots of nice restaurants including a very friendly Irish pub a block or two up.

Good location

Very nice location to the historical Istanbul.
Also rooms are very clean and modern.

4 stars my foot

from lifeisbliss
This is not a 4 star hotel. It was a 2 star at best by american standards. The rooms were very small and much of what you see in there pictures is grossly exacterated. The hotel people had severe body odor and the free breakfast was not really free if you wanted water or a fried egg. This hotel was ok for a truthful 2 star rating but nowhere close to 4 stars.

bad idea !!!

from astiarjan
I stayed there for 3 nights, and I think this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in Istanbul !!!
I was with one family (7persons), arrived at noon and found out that the road at the front of the hotel was under construction !!! Even my mini bus cannot get to the front of the hotel....there was also another construction (a building I think) at the left side of the hotel. I can hear the noise from the machines....I had to move my guest to another room to the other side, while I stay at the same room which has "the construction view". The hotel staffs told me that the construction will end the next day. It was true but only on mornings...

Breakfast was worse too, you have to pay additional EUR6 for an omlette...funny !!!

I better look for another hotel rather than staying there again on the next trip to Istanbul.
Better go to Ramada Istanbul (area of Taxim) or Best Western Old City...
Management Response from PrincePrince
There is a review "bad idea" under the name heading. Dear client added two pictures about infrastructural project. The government try to defragment between Europe & Asia side in the tunnel so that underground at the corner of our hotel. This is not our false becuse the government must to work there and we cant do it anything. When the undergrounder workes finish, all guests can go to Asia side very easily. We regard to all clients reviews and we try to get advice and after we are fixing at the hotel. Anyway we are so sorry about the government underground working.
Best Regards

Give this one a miss

We stayed there for 2 nights prior an 8 day Gallipoli remembrance tour on 25 April, and prebooked for 3 nights on our return from this tour, which was a gross error.
On arrival after midnight, we were given a non-smoking room next to a construction site which was in full operation! When asked to move we were given the option of a 6th floor smoking room on the opposite side, which we accepted, as it smelt less smoky than the other room.
On departure on our tour, we requested the same room on our return, which was agreed to. However, when we did return, the room was not available, and we had been allocated the same non smoking room on the construction site.
Our objections fell on deaf ears, and we were then offered another room on the 6th floor, as we were told there were no others available. This room turned out to be a dog box, and we couldn't even open our suitcases without putting them on the bed, and the crockery and glasses were disgusting!
Having paid in advance for 3 nights premium accommodation, not the tour rate, I raised this matter with the manager, who, on checking our booking found a newly renovated room on the 5th floor, which was acceptable and we completed our stay there.
Breakfast was included, but many in the tour group opted to eat elsewhere.
Although easily accessed from the main drag, the hotel is located amongst an array of automotive spares and other hardware stores in alleys which at best are dingy and uninviting after dark.

good location

from nabeeldar
Stayed at the Hotel Prince, for 16 nights on the 6th floor.
( only the sixth floor has views). The room was nice and big and more importantly clean.

We were lucky enough not to have anyone on either side of our room for 14 nights.....but we had company thereafter, and I asked to be moved to another room on the same floor ( roundy itialian students !!!)...which the receptionist was quick to action.
So i agree with other reviewees the walls are very thin !!

Location was good, as it was approx 100 m from the Gulhane tramline, and 300m from Sirikeci tramline. Easy walking distance to all Istanbuls major sites( blue mosque, spice bazaar,
grand bazaaar, etc etc)

All the hotel rooms are having major make over, ( 1st to 5th have been done....only the 6th left) ) and look very nice.

Recptionist were always helpful and answered any questions we had about goign and getting to places.

Breakfast was typical Turkish style...plenty of olives, cucumber, tomatoes, bread, soup, turkish Tea, coffee, bakery products, pastries, boiled egg, cheese, and a variety of hot dishes.....but amazingly you had to pay extra for an omlette or fried egg !!!

Would I return to this hotel ? Porbably not ;) as walls are paper thin and you have to pay extra for a fried egg !

Lousy Hotel, Terrible Staff !

from Dragy
LOUSY hotel, TERRIBLE staff. They try to sell trips at a very expensive price (Bosphorus cruise for 50 EUR, and if you go to the nearby port it costs only 6 EUR and it actually lasts longer).
Also, the walls are so thin, that you can have conversations with people from the nearby room without having to raise the voice.
It is quite expensive and it is definitely not a 4 star. Moreover, during breakfast they serve an orange juice and when you check out they charge you for every juice you drank (even though there is no sign saying you have to pay for that juice).
The hotel staff is lousy. There is one guy, Ceyhun, terrible service. He gets upset if you don't take the expensive trips that he proposes and takes an offended look.
One more thing : for transportation to the airport from the hotel they would charge 12 EUR / person. A nearby shop offers trips with only 3 EUR / person.
It is really the type of hotel that wants to rip you off !

Choose a better hotel in this area and dont waste your hollidays

This hotel, is well located near the blue mosque and Topkapy. The street is very difficult to reach even by taxi. Night porter is very indicated for a cemetery. Imposible to obtain any help from this person. Breakfast has plastic fruits, banana, etc. No quality at all and very scarce. Also you have to pay for real orange juice as an extra. Beds are as narrow as you can find them. I think you can choose a better hotel in this area and dont waste your hollidays

Great hotel great location but unfriendly staff!!

from kolbrunn
Great location good comfortable hotel. But the staff!! They tried to sell us trips and other stuff and it was a bit frustrating. The price was also high for those trips. Its ok on the street but at your hotel one like some privacy and not having hotel staff trying to make deals. We traveled with friends and on arrival they told our friends that their room was cancelled. Our friends had not cancelled their room so it was a bit upsetting. Luckely they got another room. We gave some critics to some things with the service and after that they seemed very irritated with us. That was not professional behaviour from a hotel staff. We really liked the hotel comfort and location but got a bit dissapointed with the staff behaviour. Its important to understand some critics when running a hotel or to be serviceminded and not unpolite!

bad experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
Bad service. Having booked this hotel 4 months previous we were told on arrival that we had to spend the first night in another hotel. The reception staff claimed other guests wished to stay extra nights. The alternative hotel was the equivalent of a 2star B&B! When we returned the following day at 1330 the room was not ready - it was made available at 1430. The female front office manager was rude, unhelpful and clearly lacked managerial abilities commensurate with a busy hotel.
She claimed that her superior could not speak English and refused to contact him. The hotel itself was clean, however the rooms were small and lacked facilities associated with 4 star establishments. It would be fair to call it a 3star hotel with 1star attitude. I could not in all fairness recommend this hotel.

Top Local Tips for Istanbul

ignore people who want to practice english on you strangers who approach you speaking english are ready to con you look out

Location is important You have to visit Sultanahmet historical place .Eg: Hagia Sophias Topkapi palace etc.

Istiklal Street must be seen Great street with people flowing up&down with Taksim Square must be seen. many stores, pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants with delicious food, (especially Saray is one of the best to be. Get crazy about those sweet things). Also they said about Baghdad Street, but we could not reserve time for that. Hope next time.
