My husband and I visited Istanbul on our honeymoon in June 2004 and I selected Hotel Fehmi Bey via the internet. I am very glad I did. The location was great, the place was clean and well run. The staff was friendly and efficient and while very professional, the hotel still felt comfortable and, well, 'homey.' The big, warm-hearted golden retriever who takes up residence in the foyer adds to a very nice ambiance. I definitely recommend it -- in that price category, it exceeds expectations. (oh, and we LOVED Istanbul!)

Top Local Tips for Istanbul

Istanbul Traffic Allow twice as much time as you think you will need. The traffic is horrendous!

Getting from the airport Dont get a taxi. Take the airport metro and change onto the #38 tram. It takes about an hour to get into town and costs about £1! Taxi took us about an hour and cost about £15.
