Top Local Tips for Istanbul

Resteraunt people in istanbul are vultures!!!! I've never found a worse lot than restaurant people in Istanbul. They are relentless and quite obnoxious in the way they harass tourists. We walked down one street in Istanbul and were constantly harassed by restaurant people trying to get you into their restaurants. We'd stop to look at a restauant's board and someone would be in front of us within 2 seconds shoving a menu in our face, we'd move on - "table for 2 this way", "Look at my menu sir - We are the best in town" then we'd have people literally trying to herd or even push us into their restaurants. One thing that we did discover, was the most restaurant prices and menus were virtually the same. We tried being polite, we tried ignoring them, but they still didn't get the hint, they just tried a different language. The way we did discover to get rid of them was to just say - "We've just eaten". AVOID THE AREA OF RESTAURANTS UNDER THE BRIDGE WHERE THE LOCAL FERRIES COME IN. Divanas is a great restaurant to eat at.
